i'm not sure exactly what leading with your helmet means after reading so many posts about this play, but watching the replay in slow motion, janzen's shoulder makes the first and most significant impact. he has his head tucked while his shoulder makes first contact.

No football players for any team should read Tiger Droppings. Were a pretty good group of assholes here.

I played football, played that position, and was taught the exact opposite. He lead with his head down, spearing, which every level of football teaches as wrong. That's why they made a rule against it. It's bad for the player making the hit, and the player receiving it.

Yeah, I know you are taught to keep your head up when you make contact to protect your neck. Thing is he made contact first with his shoulder. There was nothing wrong with it. It was an effort play.
And I played safety also. Point is, when someone catches the ball, you try to knock the hell out of them. Separate them from the ball. Hurt them. Make them pay. They are the enemy when they catch the ball in your defensive backfield. I do not see how anyone can critisize him.

I'm going to change my avatar to TN and start flaming the shite out of him. Maybe I can cause the Volunteer program to implode.

I think the main thing he did wrong was the launching. If he doesnt jump up in the air to make the tackle I doubt they call anything.

I agree. But you can make that type of hit legally. It happens all the time, and a flag is not thrown. When you launch yourself, head down, and hit with your head, it's illegal.
You keep saying that he hit with his shoulder first. That pic shows him hitting with his head first.

Janzen Jackson, as a lifelong Vol fan, I hate you. I hope you eat dogpoo and become a locker room cancer and stuff.

You have eyes without being able to see anything. All I see is his helmet touching the WR. Since you have established earlier that the head is attached to his neck, then to the top of his shoulders, I am guessing that there is about 10" - 12" between the top of his head to the top of his shoulders. So at the angle JJ has taken with his head then he would have to have had his head embedded in the WR's back at least 10". But hey, whatever, you AU guys believe in the Chewbacca defense tactic for all arguments.

no he led with his helmet.
It's not like he was spearing the guy. Where ever someone's body goes, their head usually goes first. That's especially true with the shoulders. I hate that fricking rule.

I wish he hit him a little harder to completely knock the ball loose. the ball slipped a little but it wasn't completely let go of his hand.
He almost put Brandon James and AJ Green in a Coma.
