Yes rumors but anyone who’s looked at the contract knows there’s a notice period and opportunity to cure to enforce the morality clause.
LSU’s argument will likely be that the breach was incurable, no notice was required (because regardless of any amount of notice, the breach could not have been cured (i.e., undone)). Still, it’s going to be a big mess.

It’s often utilized for conformity amongst different divisions in granting equity across tiers of seniority/experience. The titles don’t mean much to you, but there’s often 6 figures plus per year in stock options riding on those designations.

Indeed. Kid had an interview with T-14 school, waiting for decision. Wouldn’t be much, if any, scholly. Great name, great debt. This is why we are looking at lower ranked schools offering $. Kid is a go getter, he networks. I’d rather him take on less debt with a lesser brand name. He’s got decent options.
Take it from someone who fits very closely with this position and is 5-10 years out. If he wants to be a lawyer, go T-14. If he isn’t positive he wants to be a lawyer, don’t go to law school. Or go be a secretary/assistant at a V20 in a big market for a year.

It’s a really good sports law program. With that said, it’s a very difficult and unrealistic path to biglaw. The only biglaw around is in Houston or Dallas. And there are 8-9 schools in Texas that would place students better in Texas than Tulane will. Could try to go to NYC, but will likely need a tie there. Again, there are dozens of schools that will place better in NYC than Tulane will. Many with similar entrance requirements and costs.
Sports/entertainment isn’t a very common biglaw field. Plenty of biglaw firms don’t even have a department.
And if he doesn’t like blow yet, he will in that curriculum at Tulane.

Sorry to say, but this is just untrue. Moved to Chicago, and I would take December - March every year just for April - November. Winter in Chicago is better than summer in the South, and summer/fall in the North is far and away better than spring/fall/winter in the South.

Pretty far off there. The range is more like $65k-$225k starting out in a big market like Houston. Far more people making $65k-$100k starting out than those making more than $100k. Then you have a massive amount of attrition from all pay bands over the first 5 years. The ones making $225k are working a ton and will likely only stick at biglaw firms for 3-5 years before they (1) go in house; (2) move down to a smaller (likely lower-paying) firm; or (3) drop law entirely.

re: Chicago/Milwaukee course recommendations
Posted by LSUtiger17 on 6/4/24 at 11:16 am to Whip
I'm pretty new to Chicago but have played a few rounds. There's some really good public golf around here, but almost everything is a 30 min-1hr drive from the center of the city. A lot of good courses between Milwaukee and Chicago. I haven't played all of these, but they are consensus top courses in their respective direction.
North of Chicago
Thunderhawk--Supposed to be one of the best public courses in Chicagoland, especially for the value--$50-100. It's midway between Milwaukee and Chicago.
Steeplechase--Good course that is cheaper than Thunderhawk--$50-80. Supposedly the best value in Chicagoland. Also midway between Milwaukee and Chicago.
The Glen Club--Great semi-private course. I've heard it's the best course in the area that you can get on, and I can see why. Played it recently and it was a lot of fun, but expensive--$120-220. It's 25-45 minutes from downtown Chicago depending on traffic.
Stonewall Orchard--Good course but pretty far out, NW. It's supposedly one of the toughest in the area. $80-140.
Sunset Valley--In one of the nicest/most expensive suburbs. Worth going to just to see the northshore neighborhoods and stop by a beach on Lake Michigan. Supposed to be one of the best values close(ish) to the city. $50-80
West
Cantigny Golf--3 9 holes; all are supposed to be very good and unique from one another. Best public course in the west suburbs. $80-140/18 holes.
Highlands of Elgin--Good value. $50-85/round.
Cog Hill--4 courses. Only Dusbdread and Ravines are worth playing from what I'm told. Dusbdread (hosted PGA) is probably the toughest public course in the area, and one of the most expensive too--$145-200 . I played the Ravines in March. It was a really good value ($50-75) with tons of elevation change.
South
I've heard Harborside used to be the best in this area, but it's gone downhill recently. However, it's the closest of all of the courses on this list, and it's the only one that would be uber-able. If you have a car, skip the south. If you don't, Harborside will still probably be a fun time. Great views of the city skyline. $50-140

They just put bleachers up by the practice field while they finish the new stadium. Put another way, this is a really awesome practice field on Lake Michigan that happens to have enough space to seat 20k.

They own Sand Valley as well, which also appears to be similar to this development. Sand Valley is in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin, and the closest cities are Milwaukee (3hrs) and Green Bay (2hrs). Green fees at Sand Valley are $295 at each course--I'd expect something similar here considering the proximity to Dallas and Houston.

Big Erik Larson fan. The January 6 comparison is laughable and set a bad tone. I’m still optimistic on it though. The first few chapters have been good.

wtf. you had a 3 year window to be paying aggressively on it while there was no interest and your conclusion was there was no incentive to pay more than the minimum requirement?
Why would someone pay down an unsecured loan at 0% interest with payments frozen? It make 0 sense. Having $75k sitting in a high interest savings account actually yields decent money right now. And there’s still some uncertainty about forgiveness/rate changes.

Hasn't the SEC already denied applications to create a spot etf for BTC? Grayscale already filed to convert its trust, GBTC, to a BTC spot etf and the SEC denied its request around a year ago. Grayscale then filed a lawsuit against the SEC, and a decision is imminent. Any idea if this means BlackRock suspects the court will side with Grayscale and order the SEC to permit spot etfs?

Best Website to Sell/List a Vehicle?
Posted by LSUtiger17 on 2/22/23 at 4:00 pm
I am selling a 2006 model truck with very low mileage in the next few weeks. I'm not trading it in because my wife and I are moving to a city with great public transit, and we will be a one-vehicle household for a while.
Carmax offered me about $5k below what I believe is fair market value. Does anyone have experience listing a vehicle online (Craigslist, Facebook, others?), and how was your experience? Any tips?
ETA: I'm willing to accept a low ball offer for convenience, but $5k below FMV is about a 50% discount.
