Because maybe Byrne & Co know more than the average message board loser i.e. me.

This sort of blind deference to any sort of authority is stupid.

How many ADs have given awful extensions over the past 20 years? Tons and tons.

There’s no reason to think Byrne or any person in the administration is infallible.

How many of our programs have been ranked in the top 25 or top 10 over the last 12 months?

Damn near all of them?

I’ll give the guy the benefit of the doubt if that’s ok.

It's a $10M buyout that decreases to $8M in January 2027 and then by an additional $2M each January after.

It's a recruiting play.

That is the buyout if he leaves.

We fire him it is about 7x that number.

It was closer to a market adjustment than a true extension as his buyout is stupidly low and didn’t seem to go up.

Per ESPN The buyout is only $10M and decreases by $2M every year after that. For comparison, Auburn paid Hugh Freeze a $15.8M after year 3 despite dumpster diving for him.

Well, he just took a team with this as an offense to the playoffs:
QB: Injured
RB1/RB2/RB3: injured
TE1/TE2: injured
WR1/WR2: injured
C/RG/RT: injured

He also just turned down overtures from multiple major programs like Michigan.

So theres that...

Deboer is not up to Bama standards for me and needs to go. If admin has any sense, they'll get rid of him first chance they get.

Who is better that we can actually get? and not someone who we'd have to take a chance on.

That’s only what he owes if he leaves of his own volition. If we fire him without cause we owe him large. 90% of his remaining contract with no reduction if he gets other employment.

Unless DeBoer decides to leave to go to the NFL maybe, he’s gonna be here for a while.

Getting to a 12 team playoff ain't that big a deal really.

You're right, but why lock him and ourselves up like this?

Because he's a good young coach?

Who's your pick for a replacement?

He's fine at the moment but why extend him until he goes deep into the playoffs at least?

Is there incentive for average more than 1.3 YPC in a game?

There was no reason to give him a raise. Especially after the Rose Bowl and SECCG.

Byrne damn sure must believe in DeBoer because a contract like this is a going to end him if we're stuck in the mud as a fringe playoff team in 2-3 seasons.
