CFB Coaches Doubt Kiffin can win CFP at LSU

We’ll see, Indiana just won a natty no one really knows what’s gonna be what moving forward. I will say for better or worse kiffin has set him self up with lofty expectations. I am interested to see what year 2 looks like.

What do those quotes even mean?
I’ve posted this before in other threads, but I don't get all of the hate Kiffin gets for job hopping. Most of his jumps were a natural progression and the only poorly handled one was Tennessee, and that was for his "dream job."

Kiffin is great gamble for LSU but still a gamble in terms of actually winning a championship before self destructing.

I would think that a +3 game win improvement over last year is the only way he doesn’t feel fan pressure.
He’s at LSU because he’s expected to win, to win a lot, and to win early on.
He created these expectations with his actions. Year 1 rebuild excuse would backfire tremendously after the portal action this offseason. Doubters like gump fans will be circling like vultures.

Kiffin can't win a national title at LSU? For crying out loud, Les Miles and Ed Orgeron did it. I've got high hopes for Lane.

I am zero fan of the cheating tide. However, Debeor's second year was objectively better than any LSU season since 2019.

It's not that Kiffin leaves; it's the way he leaves. He has made enemies at Tennessee, USC, Bama, and Ole Miss. Once is a coincidence, but 4 times is a pattern.

The majority of that was 10-20 years ago.
What did Kiffin really do at Ole Miss that was egregious, other than leaving for a rival? I think people are just applying confirmation bias when looking at that specific departure.

There are many parallels between his Tennessee departure and his departure at Ole Miss. The only difference is that now he has Twitter to release dumb inspirational cryptic quotes, and he pretends that he prayed about it, which is just a mockery to everyone

His tenure with the Raiders was a failure. I think Southern Cal set their expectations too high considering the way they were hammered by the NCAA. I believe that Southern Cal lost the most scholarships of any NCAA sanctions since SMU.
Leaving Knoxville for LA was business decision. He handled it extremely poorly. Leaving FAU for Oxford was handled well but no Owl fan actually thought he would stick around. The way he left Tuscaloosa and Knoxville caused the stipulations Keith Carter put on him. You can't fault Carter for that considering Lane's history.
Regardless of how he is perceived in thr way he switched jobs, his on the field record is what would concern me if I was an LSU fan. The games Kiffin has dropped to far lesser opponents and his baffling in game decisions have been covered ad nauseam on here already.
His floor will not meet LSU fan expectations. His potential ceiling - not his demonstrated ceiling - would make any fan of any school happy.

exactly. If you look at the entire time he was at Ole Miss, it was a success. However, LSU would have fired him in 2022 and 2024. Out of the six years he was in Ole Miss, LSU fans would only have been happy with 2023 and 2025. That's 2 out of 6 lol

I think it's interesting that people think he's "still a coked-out womanizer" simply because he left for a better job.
Like folks said, he "changed", but now he "hasn't" simply because he left for a better job, never mind that he stayed at Ole Miss MUCH longer than anyone thought he would.
It's interesting how divisive of a personality he is and how that leads to different viewpoints.

Leaving Alabama was a much different situation than the other two.
