A final Transfer Portal Update:

10,965 NCAA football players entered the portal.
- 3,972 FBS
- 2,771 FCS
- 4,222 D2/D3

Many have signed and are enrolled at new schools.

But 6,671 NCAA football players are active and hoping to sign.
- 1,619 FBS
- 1,782 FCS
- 3,270 D2/D3

40% of FBS portal guys are still looking.
64% of FCS portal guys are still looking.
77% of D2 and D3 portal guys are still looking.

Find a school. Get coached-up. Earn a degree. Win some ball games. Create relationships. Change your life.

Talking to GMs this morning - dozens of examples of players in the Portal asking if they can return to the team only to discover their spot has been filled

These are mostly NOT players who were forced into the Portal but rather players who listened to terrible advice from jackals posing as agents

Countless examples of players being told entering the Portal is a sound business decision with zero risk since the fallback option is your current roster spot

Other examples of the current team offering a reasonable $ figure and “agents” lacking the ability to even spell market rate convincing the player the offer is disrespectful

So much bad advice from vultures out there. Hopefully these guys can find a team soon.

But self serving advice from people that don’t have your best interests in mind is not a new thing.

Being in portal doesn't exclude you from returning to your school.

NFL agents make anywhere from 5 to 10 percent for their players’ contracts but in college football, they are charging 20 percent because these vultures are squeezing what they can out of the younger guys

I feel bad for some of these kids. There should be a way for them to get an assessment of their market value without entering the portal and losing a spot on their team.

there are probably a lot of them who weren't getting paid at all in the FCS or D2 and just wanted to see if maybe there wasn't a $50k spot out there somewhere. Now, they are presumably losing a college scholarship. Some of them will not be able to finish college.

To me that's less about greed and bad advice than just an unfortunate situation.

NFL is capped at 3% of their contracts. Endorsements depend on your deal with agency.

College agents are taking 10-15% of NIL deals and their justification is that since the college guys are getting paid “less” they need to charge a higher percentage to equal what they get from NFL guys. Ignore the fact that there are 11,560 scholarship football players just in FBS alone and that doesn’t include the roughly 3k extra not on scholarship at that level. Then you have FCS on down (granted there isn’t a lot of NIL money being spent at that level and below).

Problem is your school went out and got a replacement for your spot. If you go back you are likely a deep depth piece with zero NIL. So you lose both ways. Lost what NIL you had plus lost your spot and won’t be able to showcase your skills barring injuries.

These agents are not explaining repercussions well, only convincing them how much they can make. When its the agent who makes out.

Need an agent grading system. So players can learn who to stay away from
