Cool. You signed 15 guys. What about the 35 that left and were just as good?

I might be wrong, but I thought this was taken into account by atleast one of the major ranking services. Could have sworn I saw a net gain +/- thing going on in their lists.

Have any of these services started ranking teams based on portal gains against their loses yet? I bet that is coming at some point.

Yes, I'm sure in your world you would love that so you can scream you guys did something better than Lane! Unfortunately, that seems to define your purpose these day lol.

There’s no good way to do that. Gives way too much weight on having a mid team already, not losing anyone and signing more mid to bad players. But On3 does do this so you can compare.

Well that can't be right, I read all day yesterday how LSU was number 1.

Transfer outs shouldn’t count.

If you lose 30 mediocre players and add 15 good players, your team is better off.

It’s almost a given deep depth will transfer out in this era, what matters is adding contributors

You're inadvertantly making an argument for any transfers out should count.

115 am on the day your program plays its biggest game in history and you are still thinking about lane and LSU

Came here to state the same.

I know Alabama is net +1 on 4* and net -11 (I think) on 3*, maybe -13?

Theoretically their rankings should reflect this... if they were a 5* out of high school but contributed at the level of a 3*, then they should be a 3* in the portal.

If you bring in fewer players but they're higher rated then you'll still net a positive; by contrast, if your best providers leave and you bring in a bunch of unknowns, having more players shouldn't necessarily equate to a positive transfer rating.

That’s not how it’s working though. On3 has LSU all the way in the 20s for team transfer haul because we lost a bunch of bad players and didn’t bring in quite as many new but better players. The guys we lost mostly wouldn’t see the field. It’s dumb to lose “points” for guys who would never contribute, it’s basically losing a walk on

Losing a whole bunch of 3- and 4-stars who never played will count against a team when they shouldn't.

Because transferring out categorically defines a player as mediocre?

If all the players transferring out are mediocre, how do they become good when signed by another team?

It’s zero-sum, Einstein.
