What site is that referencing? ON3 has LSU 23rd overall and 6th in the SEC.

On3 does it the right way, averages what is coming out vs going in.

Don’t tell the people Ranting on a non-ranting board.

Little mind they did this last year.

How many of those 4 stars in last years portal class worked out good?

On3s rankings are bad because they punish teams that rid themselves of low performers.

But if an underperforming team cuts its losses from lazy or bad Apple players even if they are “highly rated” does this not give those teams an unfair assessment?

A lot of them. LSU’s ‘25 portal class led to 9-10 starters with 7-8 of those being 80% of the bright spots on an otherwise mediocre to bad team.

If they were underperforming it shows somewhat. There are many guys that show their transfer ranking is lower than their HS recruiting ranking. Even ones that were ranked coming out of HS have no stars as a transfer which usually means they did not play. So ON3 is taken in account that as well.

Remember though these transfer rankings use the base of their HS rankings which has always been about potential.

You might as well wear a shirt that says "I'm butthurt" on the front at this point.

On3 is literally the premier recruiting site, wtf are you talking about? Whatever garbage OP is referencing might as well be ESPN

I agree.

My comment was about the poster that clearly has a problem with the other ranking which is just different. He has a problem with it because LSU is #3 in that one and Bama is #19. That doesn't make On3 "the right way." It is just an entirely different way of ranking the portal classes.

Update: I just checked the On3 rankings, and Bama is at 58.

Rankings aren't the only issue. Coverage in general is pretty awful. I remember last year, one of the major writers at either 247 or On3 published an article on with "Ole Miss LB enters portal". The player was a walk-on who never played and didn't even have a recruiting profile created prior to entering the portal. That tells me that they'll effectively publish any kind of portal coverage just to get ad clicks.

I'd approach portal rankings like non CFP bowl games. If you want to cheer about your team's rankings, fantastic. If you believe you hit your needs and but the rankings aren't high so you ignore them, equally valid. I say that as a fan of a team who has had a "top 5" portal class every year.
