No nonsense, no taunting, no bullshite. Just line up and whip your arse until you quit. Run the ball. Physical. Dominate the trenches on both sides of the ball.
I like DeBoer. Seems like a nice guy. But we’ve become soft. We’ve become finesse. And that isn’t going to win any championships.

Coach Cig is from the Saban Tree.
He's simply playing Saban football.

Makes me wonder why our AD thought to hire him when his ideology is completely 180 from Saban (and his success at Bama)

Lane and Pruitt were our answer. Pruitt was not available immediately but would have been eventually.
Kiffin would have given his all to be successful here his puerile past not withstanding . So many on here go into conniption fits as soon as they hear his name.
I for one feel convinced that he would have been tremendously successful at Alabama.
I am not ready to say DeBoer won’t be successful here but that it’s going to take much longer than Kiffin would have and we will have to put up with more rectal debauchery like today.

Everyone. He was at James Madison and went to Indiana, at the age of 62. He was at JMU for 5 years. Everyone missed, including Alabama. Nobody wanted to hire from that level.

It's one season. I'm old enough to see us win 7 natties and not all of them were won the same way. We'll see what Indiana looks like when 60% of their team leaves after this year because they exhausted their eligibility.
I applaud what Cignetti built this year, but I'm skeptical if its sustainable. Being able to consistently jog a team that is mostly 4th/5th year players out there year after year is going to be incredibly challenging in this era. This season is 100% their best chance given all the pieces he has assembled, but Saban always said, getting to the top is one thing, staying at the top is an entirely different beast.

This, 100%.
Hell, even Coach O was able to catch lightning in a bottle. Cig seems like a good coach, but you need more than that in this era of college football. Relying on the portal to reload every year is an extremely risky proposition.
And aside from player talent, being able to identify coaching talent when your assistants get poached is also very difficult.

It was never a good idea to go 180 from Saban. I get you might do that in a lot of new hire situations (even if the old coach had some success) but not here and not this way.
