Is Blake Baker better than what you currently have—in your opinion.

No.

What has he done that makes LSU fans think he’s elite? Good but definitely many holes. Dude gave up 49 to aTm at home and let Milroe hang 42 on him at home.

He’s an above average DC. Football is a complementary game. If the offense isn’t getting it done, it can hurt the defense (kind of how the A&M game got so lopsided).

Why would you rank a defensive unit by wins?

Why would you try and cherry pick a ridiculous stat line to justify a terrible football team.

Nobody is justifying a terrible football team. OP asked who would trade defensive coordinators and I posted defensive unit rankings.

Using a cherry picked stat line. You’re not even in the top 5 of total D in the SEC.

Unit stats (offensive or defensive) can be misleading based on what the team does on the other side of the ball.

In the past UGA was a "run first" team. This philosophy would reduce the number of plays (both offensively and defensively) that the team had. It resulted in stats that overhyped the defense and underhyped the offense because UGA used up the entire clock unless they were trailing.

We still do that to a degree... but now we have to have a solid lead to go into clock mode, instead of just doing it from the start of the game. Because of that we're #12 in yards per game allowed, but #19 in yards per play allowed. We're below the average in number of plays per game.

LSU is #25 in yards per game allowed. #31 in yards per play allowed. They're a bit on the mediocre side in both.

Scoring defense is much more of a team stat than a defense only stat. The offense not turning it over for example has a huge impact on scoring defense. But UGA gives up 4 fewer points per game than LSU.

More advanced metrics tend to factor in negative yardage plays, 3rd down efficiency and red zone defense. But I think all that just confuses it. For me... how many yards does your team give up per play? That's how good your defense is. How many yards do you gain per play? That's how good your offense is.

No. He blitzes too much and any team with an accurate and mobile QB, a good screen game and 8-20 yd middle of the field game neutralizes his scheme.
