Mbakwe
R Young
J Hale
C Adams
O Alinen
J Renaud

Looking through the roster, we have a lot of young guys in the secondary and the team overall. There’s a lot of them I’ve never heard of. I don’t think we will lose anyone that we can’t afford to, no pun intended.

Why exactly are we losing Cole Adams? He's our special teams starter and he was a low three star, it's not like he's got actual NFL hopes here out wide

I'd expect some secondary losses.

Has Cole Adams returned a punt all year? All he can do is fair catch.

I would think we would want to keep Renaud with Overton moving on

Why on earth would Renaud roll out? He was the first guy off the bench at Bandit and played extensively this season. He is our starting Bandit vs OU with Overton out and the only way he’s not starting next year is injury (God forbid) or if Keeley makes a big time jump in his game over the offseason.

Hale unfortunately seems like a surefire lock to hit the portal.

We likely lose a QB.

I could see Richard Young bolting. Same with Mbakwe.

Maybe an ILB?

Hopefully Grubb tosses his hat in the ring too.

It is way too soon to assume someone is leaving at this point. Focus on the game friday night and see what happens. Lot can happen between now and Jan 2nd.

These guys are competitors. He could probably get a lot more PT at a Troy/UAB type school. I’m not hoping for any of these guys to leave.

Renaud has flashed some. In that list, he’s the one I would hate to see go the most.

He has returned some. Not many but some. A lot of the problem is our guys who supposed to be blocking the punting teams gunners usually do a sorry job. Probably 9 times out of 10, by the time Adams catches the punt, there are 2-3 defenders right on top of him.

Not his fault. Crappy blocking is usually to blame.

There is absolutely no way to predict who might enter the portal. Even guys who play may want to go fishing for a better offer

Young
Hale
Scott
Cayden Jones
Ionata

A few off the top of my head that fit the bill

Renaud will be in line to start next season, don't really see him leaving. Could see Adams going elsewhere to get more reps. I think Mbakwe gives it one more year to try to break into the rotation. I don't see much of a scenario where Ced Morgan isn't one of our best 4 by mid year though

THIS!!! About the only time he gets a return is if it’s a line drive punt and that doesn’t happen very often. I’m just glad we have sure hands back there receiving the punt!

So looking at the primary WR rotation there are a ton of snaps available from Bernard moving on, but attrition at that position will IMO depend on whether we hold onto Horton or not. Horton fits the big body mold CKD wants going back to UW, I’d watch the guys who don’t fit that mold being allowed to walk.

I’ll just lightly mention it here but I don’t think RW works as a slot guy. I get that we tried it to get our best three on the field… but it was a disaster. So my hope is that he tucks into Bernards role and Brooks goes to the slot. But if he’s viewed as a slot only guy to be blunt that’s not a good use of NIL at his current production/NIL for us or a good way for him to highlight his skills going into what amounts to a contract year for Ryan IMO…

So I see it something like this:
Z: RW / Scott
X: Horton / Ced Morgan (WR4)
Slot: Brooks / Adams

Mbakwe

Are we writing this guy off too soon?

I know a lot of fans are down on him after the stunt he pulled in the offseason, but it seems like he's legitimately progressing at WR.

He's one of the fastest, most electric guys we have on the team. If he can settle in at WR, he could actually help us next year.

I've not seen enough of Mbakwe playing to know if he's progressing

I think he's in the 2-deep at WR which is pretty impressive.

I guess I was too busy during the offseason, I missed something. What did he do?
