Will Ole Miss Fans be able to behave themselves for the game next year?

My family and I have had nothing but negative experiences in Oxford.
1989 - My Dad and his friends were cornered and attacked by a group of frat guys in the square. Admittedly they were being a bit “Wild” after the win but they were genuinely shocked by the viciousness of the attack.
2007 - LSU visits Oxford and comes out on top 41-24 but before the game my Uncle was knocked to the ground and bitten just above the Eye brow by a gentleman wearing an Ole Miss puffer jacket and a styrofoam cup full of whiskey. All because my uncle confronted the man for him and his buddy harassing women at their tailgate.
2013 - My buddies and I make the trip up to Oxford for the game. We didn’t have tickets so we watched the game at the Round Table in the square. The game itself was fine but the second Ole Miss won on that last second field goal everything changed. Ole Miss fans at the bar started showering us with beer and hurling insults at us. We were basically forced to leave the bar when the drunk bar tenders started charging “anyone in purple & gold” $40 for a beer.
I’m hoping that this year things have changed and Ole Miss has learned how to behave themselves… I’m planning on taking the family and my 3yo daughter up there to show off our new coach! All my friends and ready for the LSU takeover and get to explore the quaint southern town of Oxford.

At least nobody got shot. Can't say that about LSU pre-game festivities nowadays.

The real question is will they burn Kiffin in effigy?

Have they any year?
Or pretty much anyone else’s fans.

You make it sound like LSU fans shoot opposing fans at games.
That was two local slum rats in a drug deal gone bad, happened to be on campus. Not ideal, but very different

Sounds like me every time I go to BR. Only fans that ever have trouble in Oxford are LSU fans. They also make BR miserable. trash fanbase.

Teach her that child friendly LSU cheer, “Suck that Tiger D*** B****”
LSU gameday, so wholesome.

I’d probably wait a year or two, before I’d take the family.

Why? Knowing what you know. You sound like you want to have a problem.

Is a LSU fan really asking this question?

The stadium will be half empty by the start of the 4th quarter.

We were just as shocked and disturbed as you were. The man was arrested and my uncle had to go to the hospital to have it cleaned and get stitches

They waved "Nutt Rags" after they hired that clown. No, they won't be able to behave.

I’d say it’s going to be the most toxic environment ever at an Ole Miss game. I’m saying this in December of 2025. By the Fall of 2026 Lane will have had 9 full months to stir the pot on social media. Can’t imagine the amount of frickery and Tom foolery that will ensue. For the record I don’t harbor ill will towards Lane.
