Sort of SEC related with Rhule as a coaching candidate. Check out Nebraska's recruits

On3 team rankings
We all remember when Nebraska was a power. Now it has the 95th ranked recruiting class. Behind schools such as Ohio, Eastern Michigan and Tulsa.
Have the Cornhuskers given up?

Could be worse, could be Penn St.

They probably should be relegated to FCS. They could dominate that region. In direct competition with North Dakota, ND St, Montana St, etc. Or maybe Nebraska should be in the mountain west with Wyoming and UNLV and Colorado St

But Penn State doesn't have a coach yet, so it's more understandable. Rhule is entering Year 4.

The used to have a Texas pipeline that dried up. Plus, their 5 star QB took a horrible injury so they slumped.
They have a shot to field a competitive team in the near future with Rhule locked up a few years.

You have to be impressed with Virginia Tech: pulled off a ranking of 25 with Franklin only in place a few weeks

There was a school outside Lincoln that won the state championship in Nebraska HS football that had 11 seniors sign with Division I schools this year.
0 signed with Nebraska.

Just proves how good Tom Osborne was. Nearly 25 straight years with 10+ win seasons back when we only played 11 regular season games. (I think he only had one or two 9 win seasons his entire career there).

It's unbelievable to me. One would think of Nebraska as a state where every kid grows up a Cornhusker fan.
Nebraska HS recruits
The highest in-state kid Nebraska signed is 14th.

Yep. Then Nebraska got greedy and 10-win seasons wasn’t enough. They’ve been in CFB lower tier purgatory ever since.

The move to the B1G was the end for them. Everyone saw it coming but Nebraska fans.

I wonder if Rhule isn't actually going to Penn State as that isn't even trying.

It seems almost impossible to revamp KSU, Colorado and Nebraska.
I’m not certain the talent is there.

I would have thought NIL would be a lifeline for them to get back to some sort of prominence since their fanbase is so hungry to win that they would be willing to invest whatever it took to do so. But maybe they're just resigned to their fate at this point.
The coach they need is Bielema.

They kill coaches carriers or always hire overhyped coaches . Scott Frost has to be regretting his choice to go to Nebraska over Florida. Getting talent to go to Nebraska has to be hard .

Hell Solich before them. He may have run the option but it was still working and there will always be enough kids to recruit for one Major Team to win with it.
I think Osborne was a count to deal with and much like Bobby Dodd at Ga Tech, he set his program back generations as ad.

I do but you do realize it's been a quarter of a century and given most forum members would have probably been in High School to have an interest in football you're looking at 37-40 year-olds at least to have a memory of that. Not sure what the average age of tRant members is, but judging from all the foolishness I'm guessing it's a lot younger than that. All that to say most probably don't remember Nebraska's dominance..........and I'm feeling old.

Firing Pelini was a mistake.
