This is a problem for the SEC...

That the committee has Tech as high as they do, and that they have Ole Miss and A&M below one loss teams from the Big 12, indicates a playoff problem for the SEC going forward.
The poor reasoning equates a win, like, say, Vandy's win over 4-4 UT with Tech's win over, say, 5-4 Cinncinati. The bottom of the SEC is discounted more than they should be relative to the top of the Big 12. Truth is, 4-4 UT would probably have won the Big 12, maybe finishing second at worst. 1-7 State beat 6-3 Arizona State. But the Committee isn't accounting for that properly. There SOS is an antiquated system that looks only at the record of your opponents, and the record of the record of your opponents, without looking at data that relativizes the strength of clusters of common opponents.
It's hurting A&M and Ole Miss this year, but it could cost your team next year.

Should’ve let me post that while they all think I’m not an Aggie. Psst, your bias is showing.

You just cannot handle the fact that the SEC is overrated.
Deal with it!
Deal with it!

Texas Tech seems equivalent to SMU from last season's playoffs.

Every other conference, the path to the playoffs is easier. But we play in the SEC. We will always have teams with a better shot to win it all bc we are more battle tested than other conferences. There is only a handful of teams in other conferences that can match the level of talent (blue chippers) we have in our conference.

to the extent this is true the SEC teams should overachive in the playoffs
over time this will lead to more SEC teams making it in future years as the taking points change

I really don't care what the committee is saying right now. It will be very interesting to see what the final results are on Sunday.

Not when you have 2/3rds of the country covered by the Big 10.
OP is correct. The decision to go to 9 conf games looks stupid as hell if playing for the championship is the actual goal.

Are you forgetting that MSU lost to Arizona State last year?

They've been wanting to do this since time immemorial.
And the funny thing is, this is what everyone on this board said they wanted over the last 20 years and you're all now getting it and getting pissed when your team finally breaks through.
I laugh at you now.

don't know why some are bitching about your post. You are absolutely correct.
Both Ole Miss and A&M have a much better SOS than Tech. Ags loss was to #13 on the road. Tech lost to ASU.
In every metric that makes sense the Ags should be ahead of Tech.

I normally would agree with this, but after our (SEC) showing in the playoff last year we really don't have the same clout.

Welcome to the world of Aggy. Always pissed about something. They have this poor little me, the world is out to get me BS. They've been this way for decades. Its the result of big resources, huge expectations, and a terrible history of under achievement. A chronically disappointed fan-base whining about the injustices of the world.
Now they are bitching that Texas Tech is in their top 4 slot, whining about our schedule while thiers is one of the softest in the SEC. The difference between Tech and TAMU is we beat the hell, by a min of 23 points, of every team we've played but one.
If you have a weak schedule you only have one option- blow the opposition to bits. Then hope you get poor-me Aggy in the play offs.

Welcome to the insecurity of Tech and Indiana, acting like their conferences are stacked.

I don't know where you are getting this from, but I am sure it is some dumb arse computer. A&M played one non-conference team with a winning record, and that was a great win at Notre Dame, but the other 3 teams are shite. In conference A&M didn't beat any SEC team with a winning conference record. The only team you played with a winning conference record is Texas.
Tx Tech beat everyone else at the top of the Big 12.
And Arizona State and Texas are basically the same team. The only difference is Mississippi State hung on to beat them and didn't hang on to beat Texas.
Ole Miss doesn't have their head coach.

We will find out who is right when tech plays someone with a pulse.

Their beat writers and administration literally say that they would be Top 3 in the SEC this year. They literally believe this.

Every year you see it...a team will be like 10th overall in recruiting, but 7th place in the SEC. And we crank out significantly more NFL players than the Big 10, even though they have 2 extra teams.
I think that (at least a little bit) the polls don't have the stones to make like 10 of the top 15 teams SEC teams. They'd end up ranking SEC teams over teams with 2-3+ fewer losses and get ridiculous amounts of criticism from other conferences. It's easier with recruiting (TBF scouts & ratings are a whole 'nother rabbit hole) because it's just a formula

Our weak schedule is 44 spots higher than yours.

Yeah, that one was a shite ASU team. Ours was to the #13 team in the CFP. We're separated by 80 points scored. Tech started the year off against Ark-Pine, Kent State, and Oregon State. Then you played powerhouses Kansas, UCF, and Okie Lite. That's weak shite.

You did have a weak schedule, 59th in college football.
