How would you like the conference championship to be awarded each year? If we stick to existing tiebreakers and just eliminate the game, Alabama would be awarded the championship for this year. Or, if we go back to the way it was done prior to the introduction of the championship game, Alabama, Ole Miss, A&M, and UGA would all split the championship. Which do you prefer?

Split the championship because the real prize is in the playoff nowadays

9 conference games will help prevent the log jam like this year. I think if you eliminate conference championship game, you award co-champions for all teams that finish with highest conference record.

No automatic bids. G6 has their own 16/24 team playoff with auto bids since it is a little more muddled at that level. P4 has their own 16 team playoff with at larges only.

It's a pointless debate because the conferences won't give up cash cows. I don't why people keep bring this shite up

Personally I think the problem is having a Conference Championship Game, and then Playoffs. It's stupid for Alabama and Georgia to play each other in the SECCG and then turn right around and play each other in the playoffs. The solution is just make the Conference Championship Games the first round of the playoffs, IMO.

With 9 game schedule it will be much more balanced but if they go away it should be best conference record, if tied than H2H, then common opponents

With that being said, as bad as the previous BYE system worked last year, it's obvious to me that it's much better than what we have currently.
Yeah Tulane would get a BYE but they'd get smashed anyway. But then you also get some really intense big ten and seccg

The latter due to scheduling imbalance.

The narrative to get rid of conference championship games is anti-competitive at its core.

I like that. And it rewards the players for the work they put in during the year.

No it doesn’t, because in the end, everyone doesn’t play everyone. There will be years just like this year where Aggies and Rebs play the bottom teams.

That is what happened prior to the SEC CG.

But the 9 game schedule still sucks because you will even further eliminate teams that are playoff worthy while shitty teams with 10-2 records get the slots.

I think with a nine game SEC schedule

Going off of conference standing and using tiebreakers is the way to recognize a conference champion

they will because the value of CCG games is going down as thier meaning goes down, and an extra round of playoffs has more meaning and thus more value

schools will get more games on campus

I’m an Alabama fan, and you can give them all to someone else as far as I am concerned.

They aren’t important. The national championship is the ultimate prize. You can toss all the participation trophies in the trash as far as I’m concerned.

That matters not at all. Alabama finished the season #1 in SEC standings due to having the same final conference record as UGA, A&M, and Ole Miss, and having the highest conference opponent winning percentage out of that group. That's why we are the #1 seed in the SECCG.
