SECCG Ticket market historically low demand

A few weeks ago, I dreamed of A&M or Ole Miss getting into the game for the first time. I would sell my tickets for a record price.
Another UGA versus Alabama matchup bottomed out the market. I guess with the two teams being playoff teams for most of the last decade, and multiple SECCG appearances, the fan bases are non-plussed by another SECCG.
I had 2 for sale in the mezzanine. I cleared $32 and some change after my costs from the SEC.
In 2021 I cleared $600 with upper deck seats.
The game has been devalued with the playoff expansion. IF the committee leaves either participant OUT, I think it probably needs to be revised to a wild card game bubble teams.

It would’ve been a totally different deal with A&M or Ole Miss.
Bama and UGA would both like to win but it’s entirely possible this would only be the 2nd of a potential three game matchup between Bama and UGA this season so it’s tailor made to crater demand.

I just figured ATL was easy trip for both teams- especially UGA.
It is what it is.
The supply of big time UGA-Bama games has outstripped demand.

You can’t expect people to pay for an SECC game trip, a couple playoff games, and then a national title. Especially when you have another matchup we’ve seen multiple times.
These conference championship games are going to have to change / adjust.

the SECCG is irrelevant now

I don’t know, for many, a playoff game ticket or championship game ticket is more meaningful
My schedule is very busy so I passed on reservations for SEC championship game knowing I would go to at least 1 playoff game

That’s a good call. Would make it fun again. The SECCG has no intrigue anymore as is

Tickets are not a damn investment. Youre a douchebag if you buy face value tickets with only the intention of selling them for a profit

How much have these tickets gone up over the last 7-8 years? The price you actually pay from the SEC. What are the numbers?

Fans would rather save money for a playoff game (or 2-3 playoff games). We’ve seen our fair share of Alabama-Georgia in that stadium

$950 for 4 now in mezzanine
My former tickets were uppers at $630 from SEC before the upgrade this year.
I’ve been to many games that Auburn did not play in and of course I went in 2010/2013/2017.
I use to sell 2 cover my cost plus and go to the game and watch.
Just getting older so it’s more hassle than I want to deal with on a Saturday.
I don’t buy them as an investment. I’ve been able to provide friends with tickets for my cost most years.

This is certainly a hot take. Why do you hate America?

Everyone's tired of this matchup. It's like when we kept facing Clemson in the CFP but even worse. This will be the 7th meeting between Alabama and Georgia in 5 years and only 3 of them were scheduled

Georgia just played there last week against Georgia Tech.
Most Dawg fans expected the Aggies to win in Austin.
Up to this point, we simply haven't fully appreciated or experienced a Battered Aggie free fall.

Had a huge tailgate for GT game at the Benz last Sat. Most of the Dawg die-hards I know shrugged when TX won and are passing on the SECCG game. Unthinkable 2 years ago but can watch Bama beat us from home for free.

Im pro capitalism...but in the mold of actually producing a product or service to make money. Scalping is scumbag behavior IMO. If you dont plan on going, dont buy the tickets.
I not saying the govt should make it illegal either. I just think out of principle, you shouldnt do it.

It's more complicated than that. In order to get those tickets you have to decide long before you know who is playing. A lot of people buy them hoping they will have their team play and if they don't they sell them. Same with lots of other sporting events. If you don't buy them you have to pay a premium. If you do buy them you can sell them and likely make some money.
Hate the game not the player.
