Does a 10-3 Bama get in?

I think they pretty clearly would. The ACC is a one bid league this year, and we might even get 5 SEC teams in.

But, in this format, it could happen that a 10-3 SEC championship game loser gets left out. It sure would suck to get to the championship game at 10-2, lose it, and then get left out.

Lose to OU *and* Auburn? no

ETA: oh to A&M ... yeah still gets in. They've indicated they don't count championship game losses much at all. Remember SMU last year?

I truly believe we could lose to OK and AU. This team is very beatable.

If ESPN has anything to do with it, absolutely they do. Even though they shouldn’t.

Yes.

If Bama is 10-3 that means they either:

A: finished the regular season 10-2 and lost in the SEC championship. If what they say is true, that a team won’t be penalized for losing a conference championship, they will be in.

Or

B: finish the regular the regular season 9-3, but still make the SEC championship game and win they will be automatically be in.

So yes, 10-3 Alabama makes the playoffs.

Your assumption is obviously a loss in the SEC championship game.

I think the committee has been fairly clear that it is not going to penalized championship game losses.

3 regular season losses? No

A hypothetical 3rd loss picked up in an sec title game won't be held against us though.

Definitely not sure wins. I say "no" because if we're 9-3 at end of reg. season, we should NOT be in the playoffs unless the rest of the top 10 went completely to shite (which is not going to happen).

I think the risk of playing in the SECCG these days is playing like shite in the SECCG. The committee swears that they won't punish teams for losing a conference championship game, but recency bias is real.

in 2023 Georgia went from being #1 in the AP poll with 52 out of a possible 62 first place votes before the SECCG to being left out of the playoffs altogether. Recency bias kicked in.

Obviously it was only a four team playoff back then, but we played bad and recency bias kicked in.

We should have been in the playoffs last year even at 9-3.

She is just demonstrating that a&m fans have not been here before. Something new to her and entertaining.

The championship game doesnt count as a loss. They would still be 10-2 and get in.

Only if the 3rd loss is in the SECCG.
