Do you think he will try to bring in another QB for next year, stick with Jackson Arnold, or put everything into getting Deuce ready?

I bet he would stick with Jackson Arnold and say he was so close.

He would have to bring in someone else, and would have to overhaul the offensive staff and give up play-calling.

But then you run into the obvious reality that you're not going to get the guys you want because he is a lame-duck coach on the hottest of hot seats, hence why its pretty pointless to bring him back barring an actual turnaround.

JA will probably transfer. No OC is going to come work for Hugh knowing he's on the hot seat not a good one anyway

If he stays, our starting qb is likely not on campus. Nor is our OC, in my opinion.

I think we could get a good OC but would probably need to get one from a G5 that has shown innovative play. I doubt that would happen.

Next year would be such an exciting schedule (away at least) if I did not anticipate such uninspiring coaching.

JA marriage will probably be over for self-preservation purposes for both parties

I agree with Jang. I think Hugh will bring in at least 1 new QB.

If he doesnt bring in someone else it will confirm to me that he is waiting to collect his buyout. I dont see how an Offensive minded coach can so consistently pick underachieving QBs every single year. I was surprised he rode with Thorne so I dont put it past him to not have the awareness to bring another QB on.

Sounds like a play about modern college football.

Like “Waiting for Godot.”

We fought and emptied yalls lunch money for deuce. How long before he can play? No reason a sophomore should not be ready to go.

Unless he is not getting coached

Ill never be convinced paying for a HS QB is worth hardly any NIL money with the way CFB is today. If they flop you've wasted money that couldve been spent on the best portal QB, plus we dont have to worry about them overachieving because that dont happen to QBs at Auburn

This is why I told you all that the traditional 5-star HS QB recruiting strategy was stupid and a complete waste of resources (money). They do not present any value as freshmen, but they will not sit for 2-3 years. And if your job is on the line you obviously can't go into the season with an unproven QB who has never taken any meaningful snaps either.

Its a completely dated model that doesn't work in this era of football.

If Hugh survives, I suspect we'll get the "this year, it's all on me and I'm running the offense completely" routine. There will probably be a few token sacrifices made in the staff to appease the angry fanbase... likely Thornton and Aigamaua, maybe even Nix. I doubt he brings in an OC of any note. Who would want to coach for this guy? Why waste the money? If Freeze comes back, we're just kicking the can one season until he's fired because next year would nearly be a lock for a losing record.

As for QB, I don't see Arnold coming back. He cost far too much for what he's delivered and I can't see that sitting well with those who invested that money. They may pitch either Deuce or Daniels being the "QB of the future", but it's really hard for me to see Deuce hanging around after this season and there will be money waiting for him. We'll pick up a couple of other guys like Daniels to fill out the roster, get our asses handed to us next season and then Hugh would be fired... if he survives this season.

He will promise to bring in an OC, that OC will get the QB... After the first play call that is different than Hugh wants, Hugh starts calling the plays.

You have to bring in the HS QB or you do what we continue to do which is a disaster. Get one that is willing to learn for two years which is typically the case - see bama, UGA, Ohio state, Texas,

This renting a QB is not working for us

Kiffin has been renting QBs and he does just fine. Also, even 5 star QBs are no guarantee of success. QBs are hard to scout as their play doesn't always translate to the college level. Same thing with college to NFL.

Kiffin is a qb whisperer, always has been but not everyone is. Got to try to bring them in and grow them.

Well……. It worked with Cam, Marshall, and to a degree Stidham.

Kiffen runs a good offense and has more sense of what fits his team than Freeze. We've rented two. Both have been sub-par and for many of the same reasons.
