SEC teams undisciplined, or are SEC refs just out of control with flags?

This is where SEC teams currently rank nationally in being penalized (#1 being the least penalized). Only two in the top 50 is crazy.

#15 - Mizzou (4.0)
#20 - UGA (4.3)
#53 - Kentucky (5.5)
#55 - OU (5.7)
#65 - Bama (6.0)
#89 - Florida (7.0)
#89 - Arky (7.0)
#89 - Tenn (7.0)
#97 - LSU (7.3)
#108 - Vandy (7.8)
#111 - Ole Miss (7.8)
#122 - Texas (8.5)
#125 - USCe (8.8)
#126 - AU (8.8)
#131 - Moo St. (9.3)
#134 - aTm (9.5)

We suck at every aspect of the game imaginable, so it's probably just us.

If it’s not the refs, then it appears 14 out of 16 coaches run undisciplined programs.

I think it is just refs finally taking rules a bit more seriously. It has been a long time coming for a correction to enforce the rules more rigidly.

Arkansas is undisputed undisciplined, but we have been absolutely hammered with the shittiest refs possible. Watch all the blown calls in the Memphis game.

I think it's just the inconsistency of the calls. That's what drives fans nuts. Some of the calls are baffling....it just doesn't make sense.

The LSU/Ole Miss Game was a Ref Show. First half especially was hard to watch (and not due to our performance).

It's the refs. During the LSU/Ole Miss game last week it was out of control. It slowed the game down so much. It was ridiculous.

I’d imagine the transfer portal has an effect. Especially on the o line

New faces on offense every year, limited time to gel as a cohesive unit leads to more people out of position and more holding, false start, illegal procedure penalties.

Yup. 14 point swing on 2 horrendous flags in the Memphis game.

Pass interference needs to be reviewable.

What has changed?

The players are now paid and can hop teams on a whim. One can assert this makes them less coachable.

The players are less disciplined.

I think SEC refs get too involved in the game at the worst times. They are highly inconsistent. They'll call crap that honestly has no business being called then turn around and miss an egregious penalty that should have been called.

But this is true for every conference, not just the SEC.

THIS. A lot of calls are inconsistent.

Judgement calls that the naked eye can see and common sense tells you shouldn’t be called.

Outside of SEC and B1G, I don't think schools from the remaining conference are as "catering" to players.

And really, the B1G only has a small hand full of NIL powerhouses.

So I can't answer except to say that definitely the entire SEC is 100% embedded in this pay players, coddle players, make them like you... era.

Some B1G schools are as well, but not all. And other conferences? Meh.

Yep. We've created a bunch of prima donnas who are not very coachable and are spoiled. If you are too hard on them they'll simply transfer to another team. It's out of control

I don't know about all the crews, but the one that did Auburn vs Oklahoma and then Utah State vs Vanderbilt is complete butt.
