McElroy, McDonough, Mcgrath for starters is this the 1st time all the announcers last name start with MC? And secondly but most importantly thank God it isn't Joe Tessitore.

I'd play the game on mute before I listen to JT.

I hope Greg doesn't do his thing and go well out of his way not to be a homer, because I have a feeling McDonough is going to be really fricking irritating for this one. He is usually OK, but there are certain games where he's fricking insufferable to me and I can very easily see him shamelessly glazing Pavia the entire game.

Greg, of all people, should appreciate what Ty is doing.

I like all of them. Greg at times tries not to be a homer when doing the Bama games but the fact he is teamed up with Mcdonough shows his worth to ABC and ESPN

I think this is the best ESPN crew. Fowler, Herbstreit, Rowe second. Hart, Cubelic, and Rodgers third even though they are just on SECN.

I don't really understand why people get irritated at McElroy trying to remain impartial during a broadcast. Are his criticisms of Bama any tougher than most of the fans or posters on this message board? The guy is a homer and is Bama through and through, but he also knows he's paid by ESPN to do a job a particular way.

I can't stand Tessitore. I'd rather listen to Beth Mowens call a game.

noooooooo...... i know tessitore gets excited, but no way hes worse than beth mowens. tessitore and gus johnson are in the same mold. however, gus has toned it down a wee bit. maybe jt will get the memo.

Tessitore needs to just call the game rather than being so overdramatic and theatrical about every little thing. He tries too hard to make the game bigger than what it is. Let the game determine how big and exciting it is, don't interject false excitement and drama. It's pathetic.

Joe Tess was one of the best for a while, but then he leaned too much into getting overly excited about every little thing. Gus can pull that off (mostly), but Tess needs to chill out. He's overall really solid except for being too geeked up.

Every team has fans who are convinced that the entire media hates their team and loves their rivals. There are people who get so upset by this imagined bias that they can only listen to their team's radio network, and some of them even complain that the people on there are undercover fans of their rival.

I like Tess alright, but like you said he gets too damn excited these days.

ehh, IMO Gus can't pull it off either. I'd take excited Tess over excited Gus.

Nobody's asking him to be a screaming homer but there's a yuge difference between professionalism and bending over backwards to prove you aren't biased and the point has been made over and over again. The guy somehow manages to sound more critical of Bama than rival commentators do. That's why people get irritated... it's not "impartial" it's overcompensating and annoying af. Neutral is one thing, acting like you've got to distance yourself from your own alma mater at every turn is another. He's not like that on any of his radio shows or podcasts. But during broadcasts or ESPN interviews, he's an entirely different monster.

Watch Herbstreet call an OSU game. That's the epitome of a neutral observer. Reece Davis is as well and dude is a Bama fan/alum. And Greg is such a bitch, he had a chance to redeem himself last year following the Clemson/SMU game yet he lobbied for both teams to get in.

Give me Cole Cubelic, the Auburn guy, any day over Cuckelroy...

We are hearing two different things I guess. Maybe you’re too sensitive.
