If you literally won the lottery today. You now have a guaranteed income for your life and even your children’s lives. I’ll be honest I’d probably mail it in. Is what it is at this point.

GF and I were actually talking about this very thing last night because we bought some power ball tickets for the hell of it. I'd like to believe I wouldn't mail it in, and wouldn't become lazy or let the money control my life. I would probably quit my current job but I definitely wouldnt stop working. I'm 37 though.

But, to your point, yes, big, life changing money 100% can and does have a negative affect on people, especially young people, and can make them unmotivated, apathetic, entitled, and unfocused.

That is why you need a good coach who can reign that type of thing in. But even good coaches, like Kirby Smart for instance, struggle with it.

Basically the plot of Rocky III...we're in the first half of the movie. Saban was Mick...carried us all those years, but now he's gone. Where's Apollo?

I’d quit my job, diversify as much as I could to protect my newfound fortune from myself, and find a hobby.

Probably not just the players, but the players parents. The parents have to keep their kids in check. But I would bet that most of these parents are pushing the maximum payday they can get for their kids and we all know it’s true and we’ve already seen it happen.

When all the emphasis is put on a paycheck. There’s not much room for morals and ethics. No room for proving hard work pays off because they’re already paid, no room left for achievement when being paid is the achievement. I could go on and on but it doesn’t matter really.
I can’t really blame the players for what’s happened totally. It’s the adults in charge that caused it in the first place.

Pride in what you put your name on still matters to some of these kids. Not ours.

This is dumb. He didn’t win the lottery. He worked to get here. And while his contract wasn’t as large it’s not like he was paycheck to paycheck when he was hired.

A guy who has been labeled a winner (pre-Bama), worked for years climbing the ranks, and is now coaching at one of, if not the, premier names in college football and he is on cruise control because he has a fat contract. Come on.

I would quit my job and travel the world, fishing in exotic locations and watching sporting events in exotic locations. When I wasn’t doing that I’d sit on my waterfront porch with a good dog and a cold Guiness and watch the sun set.

But I’m not wired like the 0.000001% of dudes cut out to run a major college football program. Turns out Deboer might not be either

ETA: I’d also have a suite in BDS reserved for family and friends and select members of the TD bama board. Never forget where you came from

I'd quit my job and open up a Comics, Cards, and Collectibles store. I know places like that are lucky to break even but for me it wouldn't matter. I'd get to help people find those cool treasures they've always wanted for their collections. And of course I could keep the coolest stuff for the man cave displays.

There isn’t one. And Clubber Lang (Georgia) is ready to deliver pain.

I would pay all my bills off and show up for work but I’m 51 and we were just built different. I enjoy work. It gives me purpose and something to feel productive.

Damn you sound like me. This plus retro consoles/games is what I've always told my wife and parents that I would do. Personal challenge would be to find a way to make it profitable, but like you said, would not matter if I never accomplished that.

Same. I'd go find someone's bait shop to work at. Or I'd take terrible family pictures for people at the beach for cash. Or maybe I'd pick up a spring job washing cars and a fall job cleaning gutters. Nothing too wild. Just something I wouldn't have to work at a desk doing anymore.

This is 99% of people unfortunately, and probably includes me too.

People like Saban are in the 1%. People who always want to push themselves and accomplish more, they live for the hunt not for the kill.

That's the type of coach and players you need, but it' shard to find.

Very. Just not motivated to work. I'd be extremely motivated to go do all the things I'd like to do but can't because shits expensive though. I definitely wouldn't blow it on hookers and blackjack. Escorts and roulette maybe, but not hookers and blackjack.

If DeBoer wanted to mail it in, make 9 million, and have a leash longer than the Space Needle, he would’ve just stayed in Seattle

If the point is that we shouldn’t have offered anybody a big buyout, then I guess everyone would’ve been super excited for Scott Satterfield or Manny Diaz
