In terms of media personalities, Pate is as good as it gets. Well spoken, actually watched the games and is connected. Doesn’t do click bait or hot takes for the sake of views. Guy loves college football and does a great job covering it.
Picking a national champ is like throwing darts though. Lot of things have to go right so predictions don’t matter. But this is better than any of the jackoffs on First Take or Finebaum saying it.

He read my prediction so he ran with it

Whatever he saw on his campus visit during the first scrimmage must've been pretty impressive.
It sounded like he'd been all over with camp visits prior as well so I'm pretty cautiously optimistic at this point that we have what it takes to compete nationally this year.
Just need to see the right side of the OL and pass rush to know for sure IMO.

He went to both scrimmages, no?
He also mentioned he's confident that Jam will be back by SEC play, so fingers crossed.

With the talent "they" say we have on this team, we have just as good a shot at winning a NC as anybody. I'm not at practices and the scrimmages but everyone (not affiliated with Bama) who's attended the scrimmages and practices all say the same thing. The team is VERY, VERY talented. So, Pate's prediction isn't that far fetched.

I don't listen to him daily, I only heard him mention the scrimmage Jam went down at but that doesn't mean he wasn't at the other one.
Bottom line, he isn't a Bama guy and has a pretty good feel nationally for where the other teams are at so if he's thinking we're ahead coming out of camp that's a really, really positive sign.

Last year's team was VERY, VERY talented also. Coaching failed the the talent though.

Very, very talented with a huge entitlement problem. Coaching wasn’t excellent but it was good enough that we shouldn’t have lost to Vandy, UT, Oklahoma, and Michigan. One stumble, maybe but mailing it in like they did on all 4 occasions speaks to the attitude in the locker room, not in the coaches box.

He signed an extension with CBS in August 2024, but maybe it was only a one-year extension?

He left CBS for On3.
