Which coach has the most riding on one single player this upcoming season?

I say Hugh Freeze. How Jackson Arnold plays this season may determine the rest of Hugh Freeze’s coaching career. If Arnold plays well and Auburn has a winning season, Freeze likely gets a raise and/or contract extension. If Arnold bombs and Auburn has another losing season Freeze will find himself unemployed.

What other coach’s futures are tied to one player this season? Napier and Lagway? Pittman and Green?

For the season its close between Sark and Smart. Either could have a natty in January if Manning or Stockton has a better than average season or could lose 3 regular season games if they don't. Neither would be much of a career impact if the season goes south but the upside for both is without limit.

Napier. If Lagway stays hurt, Billy is gone. Every other coach can weather whatever storm a single player going down would create. Not Napier. IMHO even Freeze stands a better chance.

Since you didn't limit the question to the SEC. My answer is DeShaun Foster at UCLA with Nico Iamaleava.

Napier is my leading candidate with Freeze closing the gap. Napier is out of excuses because everyone thought he'd be fired after last season. If Lagway goes down he's toast.

If Auburn doesn't show significant improvement this season Freeze's butt might be thawed at year end. They've just looked horrible for several seasons in a row now.

Answer:
Napier is gone if Lagway doesn't perform.

Bonus:
Kelly is on a very hot seat if Nuss is bad

If Manning isn't good, it will cost Sark a title.

If Stockton isn't good, it can cost Smart a title.

Probably Napier with Lagway..he will lose his job umwith that insane schedule unless Lag does extremely well..hopefully our Oline can protect him from the insane pass rushers in the SEC.

What? It's his second year.

He could go 5-7 again and nobody would care.

The Ole Miss version of Hugh Freeze was an energetic coach laying it all on the line to build a winner.

The Auburn version of Hugh Freeze is a worn out coach just trying to get by.

He lost his fire. His heart doesn't seem to be in it anymore.

It does seem this way. And some in the family have definitely turned on him.

Scathing Hugh Freeze Articles on ‘FlyWarEagle.com’

It is understandable. Auburn has paid Hugh Freeze over $15 million dollars. In return they have gotten a 6-14 record against P4 teams, have seen zero winning seasons or bowl wins, and finished 14th in the SEC last year.

If Auburn loses their opener to Baylor DJ Durkin will be Auburn’s coach by the end of the season.

To be fair, he's ten years older with a lot of health problems. Dude needs to retire.

Vurnables with Mateer. The clown show in Norman probably gets a new coach.

Are you insane, wtf..seriously. You think Smart is not one of the safest coaches in CFB...Just no..he has no pressure at all.....try coaches on the hot seat like

Brent Venebles
Billy Napier
Sam Pittman
Mike Norvell

Smart may be the safest coach in the country..do you even pay attention to CD
FB? Seriously..honest question because you absolutely cannot and think Smart is on the hot seat...Wtf is wrong with you.

I am guessing you misread the thread and thought it said coaches with the best chances to win the SEC..only explanation to list Kirby or Sark

Arch in Texas. I would never hope he has an injury, but if he did, they would be left with a huge gap. Texas fans would say “oh we have a great backup”, but if that were the case they would be implying Arch isn’t that great.

Texas has made the playoffs two seasons in a row. If Arch sucks or gets hurt and Texas goes 7-5 Sark will be back next season. No matter what happens this season, short of a serious scandal, Sark is safe. If Arch sucks it won’t seriously hurt Sark. The same is not true for several other coaches in the SEC. The jobs of at least two and as many as four hinge on how their QB plays.

Venables with Mateer. If this marriage doesn't work he's gone.
