I think he’s a very good coach and the best possible hire that could have been made. Bama fans are going to have to get used to the idea that due to transfer portal and NIL you’re not going to see runs like we did before. Saban even at a young age could not be the Saban that we knew with this era of CfB. People need to be patient and not lose their mind because he’s not cussing everyone in the sideline because the players are making mistakes.

0-24 is Deboer's record with Milroe at Washington.

The definition of success is going to look much different going forward. I think you will see W/L records vary more year to year than we're used to seeing.

An extreme example is 2023 and 2024 Florida State.

Agree. Schools are also going to have to figure out coaches salaries vs NIL. You can’t be in 60-70 million in buyouts and still want to have money for new coach and NiL. At least not those schools named Oregon, Ohio State and Texas.

I don't think we've seen what Deboer is capable of yet. He inherited a QB that didn't have the skillset to run his preferred offense but was a preseason Heisman contender. He made the logical choice and tried to tailor his offense to suit Milroe's strengths while minimizing his weaknesses. I won't start doubting Deboer until I see him lay an egg despite having all the right pieces in place.

I want to see what he can do with a different quarterback and another year in his system.

Saban with Milroe almost won a national title. I guess DeBoer is actually a huge downgrade after all.

New CFB we are in.

He can’t cherry pick like Saban based on greatness, or even results. No one wants to play for a school anymore, they want the $$.

The question is whether or not he can make it happen in the SEC when 75% of the conference is falling over themselves to win versus the 25% he is used to. It means more to more schools. How we he handle this fight? It has been a year, so no way to know.

IMO, Bama won’t be successful unless their HC is driving all of it. I don’t see him as that guy but he could develop to that I guess.

A loss to bama isn't embarrassing.... however 1984 being erased from Vandy's history books is EMBARRASSING for bama. If you say it's not, then never was a real bama fan.
