If DeBoer didn’t have the confidence to play Simpson in this game - given how poorly Milroe played - he probably has little chance of winning the job next year. Was hoping he would win the job THIS YEAR. Maybe Russell comes in ready to start as a True Freshman.

If DeBoer didn’t have enough confidence in him to get him in there this year, I am beginning to think he’ll never play a down as our starter.

This had nothing to do with Simpson or his ability. This was about not pulling you draft eligible QB and dropping his draft stock more. Everyone is ready for him to move on. There’s no way he takes another snap in an Alabama jersey.

Wouldn't be surprised. Guy couldn't even beat out Buchner and gave us absolutely nothing to be optimistic about against South Florida.

One half of a game but your DA QB played 4 years and that was OK?

No, Ty has stuck this long, he’s going to go through the spring and see how it shakes out. I would’ve liked to have seen him play today but this game means nothing with regards to next years QB depth chart.

It's also about putting qb in not suited to run the SCHEME designed for ONE guy. This year was not DeBoer's offense. Why ruin a qb trying? And if Simpson had an inkling of leaving, he would have jumped in when it opened earlier.

Against South fricking Florida... a team true freshman Jalen Hurts would have waxed.

Any proof Ty is better?

Saying Simpson was terrible in the South Florida is incredibly misleading and out of context. Given the circumstances, I thought he did so so under some really difficult conditions (pretty much the entire offense half heartedly trying and making it obvious they hated Simpson and weren’t going to help him).

I was at the USF game. Offensive line literally laid down. Kind of surprised Ty didn't leave after last season.

This University and the work that has been laid, the blood sweat and tears are more important than one players draft position. Not arguing jmo

Should have just made up an injury. Fans were already doing that to cover for Milroe earlier in the season.

Yeah not saying I agree but I think that’s what was going on in thought process.

Then he should’ve encouraged Milroe to opt out.

Well that’s obvious. I’ll bet Milroe wishes he had as well.

Very simple
Milroe back = Simpson gone
Milroe gone = Simpson back
