Both are substantial favorites (Bama-14 over Michigan & SC-8.5 over Illinois), but I would not be surprised to see both Big Ten teams to win SU, no points needed.....Bama I'm putting y'all down for a Level 4 meltdown threat, try not to embarrass your selves or the rest of the conference.....and Happy New Years, you filthy animals!

I'm not saying SC is going to win, if you look at strengths vs weaknesses this is a very favorable match up for SC.
For example, since week 8 Sellers is the highest rated QB when being blitzed (in both rushing and passing). Illinois also plays alot of cover 1 and cover 0 with their backs to the ball. That's not a good combo with a mobile QB.
Illinois OL is 94th in the county giving up pressures in close to 40% of their drops backs. Everyone knows SC's DL is the strength of their defense, with the 2nd highest rated D-line in the country. Their pressure rate is in the top 10 nationally. That being said, our best player on D is opting out (and he likely should).

Bama and USC should beat the brakes off of their opponents. There is absolutely no excuse for either to lose. Woe unto them if they lose as there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth in tRant.

What are our opt outs though, aside from obviously Rocket? I don't keep up with this stuff.

Illinois best win was a 21 pt victory over Michigan. Worst loss was Minnesota. Got manhandled by Oregon and Penn st. Despite going 9-3 their strength of record isn’t really impressive. Usce should be able to handle them. Meechigan who knows, it looked like they checked out after their second loss but they have a good run D, good roster and day’s stupidity may have lit a fire under them.

I feel like we always come out flat in bowl games. If we win, I think Illinois will still manage to cover. Would be curious to know what their opt out situation is..

Bowl games since opt-outs have become a thing are by nature a bit unpredictable.
At this point they're more about the following year's team and not about ending the current season.
Because of that, betting lines are more like those to start a season when we have incomplete information on teams rather than those once all the teams have a few games under their belt (you know... the lines that had FSU as a great team early in the year).
I personally think betting on bowl games is not a good idea because of that.

I'm kind of surprised some of these betting sites even bother with non-playoff games due to the volatile nature of player status.
Hell, Cam Ward opted out MID GAME.

The CFP likely spared Bama from a 4 loss season.... unless Bama plays like they did against the Sooners.
South Carolina might just come into this game over confident and lay an egg.
