We should go back to 4. This is so stupid lol. The 12 team playoff will only increase the bitching. Now instead of one or maybe 2 teams feeling like they got the shaft, there will be 4-5 every year. Especially with the automatic berths for conf champs which will put in 3 loss teams routinely over better teams (e.g. Clemson getting in over S car and other teams).

This is all amazing. I don’t get why people are complaining. There’s drama and we’re going to get a bunch of sick games that will all have meaning.

It is silly, isn’t it?
But what we’re really debating is who “deserves” it.
Does head to head matter?
Does better schedule matter?
Does recent performance matter?
Does eye test matter?
Recruiting rankings?
TV ratings?
It’s why it’s all silly. Come up with a definitive system that doesn’t need committees.

Look, if Bama gets left out, I’m not complaining too hard as a fan because we lost 3 games (2 that we definitely shouldn’t) and lost the ability to control our own destiny.
But I would hope unbiased folks woild acknowledge how silly it is to put SMU in. SMU will lose in the first round if they go, and Bama would likely make the final 4 at least. We’ll see what the committee does.

Because putting SMU in over USC would be an absolute travesty, and tell every single team to cancel all non-conference games against P4 teams. Quality wins no longer matter, just don’t lose.

We had that. It was called the BCS, and people bitched about it. They wanted the committee of humans, so "muh eye test" would matter, as the computers didn't give two shits about "Muh eye test", so here we are.

Agree. It will get debated for the fun of it. But no one is seriously saying “that team is national champion caliber and deserved their shot to win it.”

With the bcs teams like Oklahoma and notre damn could run through their easy schedule and get in the championship game automatically.
Now teams can get in a playoff with an easy schedule but at least they are forced to play a few teams to win it all
