Really happy for him and his kick to get game into over time was on the money.

He impressed with his ability to respond in a big pressure moment.

It is so weird to be worried about making FGs the past couple seasons. We were on a run of kickers who were basically automatic from inside 50. It's been slowly going down the drain since they younger Carlson's final season and it went off the cliff this season.

But, yes, I'm happy for the guy too. That was not an easy kick (holder did a great job to get the ball down and laces out) and you know he was thinking about the bad miss he had earlier in the game.

Alex was incredible last year but whatever GI issue he’s had basically stole a season from us. Poor McGough just wasn’t ready.

He will be great. Just needs a season of conditioning and training.

I know. It looked to be getting back on track as Kicker U. But since Auburn can't have nice things, he gets sick and we are rolling with two walk on kickers. One being a true freshman who looks to be mentally broken. And the other was playing at a university that was closed.

Hell, even our punter who has been the lone bright spot on ST tried his best to shite the bed last night. Seems like this whole team is just mentally checked out so many times. Maybe a win like that can jumpstart a mental awakening and give them some confidence back.

He almost looked like he was trying to frick it up. That late kick looked like a 30% effort. Was weird

He sure did. Makes you really appreciate something we’ve taken for granted for a long time… Solid kickers.

Currently tied for 18th among SEC kickers. (5 of 12)
We lost 2 SEC games specifically because of missed kicks, arguably a 3rd game. I'm very pleased that Vachon didn't add to that list last night, although is was dicey.

Another "season of conditioning and training" puts McGough where on that list? .... maybe 11th or 12th? Do you believe that would be enough improvement to avoid conference games slipping away? I suppose that's possible but I'm not sure

Kickers get inside their own head a lot.

ST across the board just haven’t been there for us this year. Gotta get that fixed for next year. Haven’t had much of a return game either. We have started way deep in our own territory entirely too much.

The snaps have not been up to the Josh Harris standard.

He grew up a Bammer, his entire family is Bama. which I believe is a good sign. We do well with former Bama kickers(Carlson Brothers) . Went from DIII Birminhgam Southern backup then working for Yellow Hammer Roofing to Auburn's starting kicker.

As the son of a man who played tennis for Alabama and a woman who worked for Bear Bryant, Daniel Carlson had no choice growing up. He was going to bleed crimson. His dog was even named Bama.

Growing up an Alabama fan, Vachon had always enjoyed football. But he quickly found a new love for playing it. LINK /

He did a great job.

The punter was garbage..............but he is the holder for kicks. He didn't have one good snap to handle. Everything was behind his head or on the ground. He did just as well getting the ball down.

Not enough is being said about Vachon's performance Sat night. If he misses either of those late kicks, we almost certainly lose, and are scrambling to hold the ship together heading into Dec 4.

That's a ton to put on a guy with so little experience on this stage.
