No, not really. Texas doesn't plan on "calling the shots". We are not here to try and "take over" or "s#it on this conference" (like frightened aggy seems to think). We just wanted to be a member in a conference where we (and OU) don't need to be one of the 2 the big fish and bring in most of the money. Obviously, the Big 12 didn’t have any Georgias, LSU's, no Alabama’s, no Florida’s, etc.

The Big 12 did, however, have a Kentucky like team (see Kansas), they had some Miss type schools (see Tx Tech, KState, Iowa St. & TCU). They also had a Tennessee (are they not West Virginia West?) and even an Aggie (see Oklahoma State). No disrespect to any of those schools, they beat TX and OU several times and I expect the same will happen from their SEC counterparts. If I left anyone out, I apologize, I forgot you were there.
But I digress, we did not come to the SEC to try and take over or cause any problems. We just want to be in a conference with a few big dawgs for once. We will win some and lose some.... it's all good. And I was just kidding about the similar Big 12 and SEC teams - sort of (relax UTjr, I know you are a little bigger than WV). I look forward to many good road trips in some great new college towns, a little s#it talking, and finally seeing some new teams enjoying the horns down.

Tell the truth. You came to the SEC to make more money annually off media rights.

Why wasn’t the same reasoning ok when A&M left 12 years ago?

All we’ve heard for the past decade is how backwards and ignorant the SEC member schools are, and how much better off y’all were in the Big 12.

Just trying to clarify.

It wasn't the same reasoning.

A&M wanted more TV dollars and separation from its big brother(s) and since you couldn't win the Big 12 anyway, it just made sense.

Why the revisionist history? There’s zero need to be disingenuous.

Texas A&M University left an unstable situation in the B12 to affiliate with the nation’s premier athletic conference. It was a decision the university had long wanted to make and didn’t take lightly.

The rationale was a no brainer. And while getting away from UTex was a definite plus, the reasons why we left were far more tangible: Increased exposure on a more national stage; better recruiting opportunities; superior conference partners; real fan experiences; improved TV contract and viewing opportunities; greater tradition; a more professional environment; increased revenue; stellar marketing; improved travel opportunities.

Literally everything was better in the SEC (yet we were raked over the coals by B12 folks).

But you know that—hence the reason your university made a similar decision.

I’m genuinely glad OU has joined and wish y’all luck.

Texas and OU fan logic was that since we couldn’t win in the Big 12 we would get demolished in the SEC.

We haven’t killed it but I think we did pretty good.

Oooo, lookie, lookie, a sophisticated, highly educated intellectual, with a penchant for demeaning what he considers trash people is bragging about cornbread.

Only figs from austin eat the sweet, sugary, fluffy, effeminate cornbread. In the real South, we eat corn pone.

Corn pone, cooked over an open flame in a skillet with cornmeal, bacon drippings and salt is the only way to eat. You and your better-than-thou attitude and the butter, flour, eggs and milk that you gingerly place in the oven to make cornbread, like a woman, can frick right on off.

You're not better than us. Cornbread is for the weak and soft and maybe Yankees.

Corn pone is definitely better than cornbread...but that doesn't sound right. Maybe I'm not very sophistercated, or intellectualized.

We were hoping you did come to do all of that. We were really looking forward to putting you in your place, then running you out of the conference.

Lots of posts on here and X that say otherwise.

Aggies are not scared of little brother in the least.

lol nice try like anyone hasn’t watched big 12 football in the playoff era. Weakest of P5 conferences(also scheduled the fewest ooc p5 opponents to mask it). Ou got dog walked by Clemson then bama then lsu, sure they point to that one time they almost beat uga but it was pathetic, ut didn’t look better.

Well yeah, no way we'd move to a conference offering a pay cut. Having said that, what the OP says is true. There might have been some truth to Texas trying to run things back when Deloss Dodds was our AD, but that was quite some time ago now....3 AD's (one a temporary interim) ago to be exact. I think many Texas people are relieved we no longer have to be one of two programs carrying an entire conference tbh. Yes I know that sounds arrogant considering our football program hasn't exactly been world beaters the past decade, but it can't be denied that without Texas and OU (the circus in Colorado saves them temporarily) the Big 12 would struggle in tv rights negotiations...especially if Bowlsby was still running the show after we left. Even though I can't stand the arrogance of Brett Yormark, I have to admit his aggressively poaching of the PAC saved the Big 12, for now at least. But he was aided immensely by the stubbornness of PAC 12 leadership in doing absolutely nothing to keep that conference together.

My point is both us and OU didn't have a choice, we had to go somewhere and the SEC was by far the best conference to move to. I can't and won't speak for the gooners, but it will be nice being among other big dogs with skins on the wall both recent and in the past. Running things gets tiresome in any case, we'll leave that to Bama, UGA, Tenner or whoever wants the pressure of doing such a thing. We're happy to be along for the ride..and most of all having big games nearly every week!
