Would you be OK with having the Iron Bowl early in the season?

I was talking with a friend of mine (UCLA alum) and we were talking about scheduling in general. He brought up what would I think if the SEC made the Auburn game like the 2nd or 3rd game of the season?

I don't know that would ever happen but it would definitely take some getting used to. Overall, I wouldn't be opposed to it but on the other hand, I am a big fan of tradition, so it would be really weird to play those walking turds in September.

Wouldn’t really bother me, but that game doesn’t have the excitement leading into it for me like it once did.

I look forward to Bama playing for a conference championship or playoff spot.

Uga, LSU or even the Viles or Ole Siss is what I look forward to more so than Aub

If it was the season opener during the Saban era, Alabama might be looking at 16 straight wins over the barn.

I don’t give a frick when or if we play them. They need the rub more than we do.

I don't care what they do with the Auburn game. Fine with me if that series ends completely.

Not at all. Might as well not play it at all if it's not Thanksgiving Week, as far as I'm concerned

They tend to be a team that gains momentum throughout the season. Get them early and end their season.

Enough about this sport has been ruined by senseless changes without fans speculating about more.

It will one day, just like Tennessee never stopped mattering. The second they win two in a row we'll all be running out to our local arborcide shop

I’m an Alabama fan from west Alabama. Theyre just the next team on the schedule to me. Love beating them but I also expect it.

*Don Draper voice*: I don’t think about you at all.

If I was less of a traditional and win crazy person I would probably say yes.

Auburn benefits the most of any team in America from the rivalry being at the end of the season and not somewhere else. They are such a miserably terrible to start the season most every year without a gimmick offense that Auburn may be in a similar spot to Tennessee.

Never forget or underestimate the completely weird luck they always seem to go their way or how absolutely terrible officiating that goes on there that ALWAYS goes their way in Jerkin Hair stadium.

Yes. Because when they're good, they start the season as complete arse.

But I'd be down with ditching the Iron Bowl and L$U game all together.

I really don't care when Alabama plays Auburn. In some ways, I think the post-Thanksgiving placement since the 12-game schedule was established makes tailgating environment a bit worse than if it were earlier even by a week.

It would make Thanksgiving weekend less awkward. But moving it feels wrong.

The Iron Bowl belongs on the last weekend of play the week before the SEC title game. No options for changes

I've been saying this for DECADES. (So that proves how much "Pull" I have!!! )

And to be clear - there hasn't BEEN an "Iron Bowl" since 1988.

BUT - the reason it SHOULD be moved is that the game is CLEARLY more important to the Booger-Eaters. Their WHOLE WORLD turns on beating "Big Brother." - but our guys really ONLY Care about getting into the P_ayoffs and making a title run - JUST being HONEST about it.

Think about all the aubarn games since... well, since 1989. HOW Many Times have they played OVER Their heads and our guys played "fair" or "Tight" or "Below average"??? Sadly, the answer is - way more often than not..

ALSO, by playing them late we give THEM way more attention than they deserve. it makes the game twice as "Relevant" as it should be, because they OFTEN have a short to SPOIL our season.

MANY other programs play their main "Rival" early, or at least by Mid-Season - and it makes ALL the sense in the world. AND it prevents a Crap Boog team from ruining our season on some FLUKE! Because even an early upset does NOT necessarily Kill us - esp. with the 12/24/36 or whatever it is P_ayoff.

Roll Tide!
