Saban should be chairman of college football moving forward.

No, they will forever be consumed by their hatred of this man despite him making their entire program relevant.
I used to believe that the LSU posters on the rant weren't really representative of their fanbase as a whole, but I'm starting to change my mind.

Miss Terry's question to Nick "Why are we doing this?" shows how disappointed she was with today's players focus on money versus development as good students, athletes and high quality citizens both on and off the field. Don't blame her or Nick one bit. Just hope the new coach and staff can better deal with the attitude of current players.

Well, he could always go coach at some midlevel high school without any major college prospects and make $50,000 doing it. Life lessons are even more important for those kids.
Don’t feed me this shite about “Why are we doing this?” and blaming kids and parents for seeking ways to earn a buck when the coaching staff they play for is going to earn about $15,000,000 off their backs.

Players should make money off the NIL. That’s not what’s happening and you know it. And yeah the coaching staff is making money off their backs, but that’s a two way street. Compare pre Saban Bama nfl contracts and today’s.

If someone wants to pay a player through the guise of NIL, more power to them.
Money has made the difference in winning for a long time now. It won’t change with NIL regardless of the rules. The same teams will continue to win.
Not everyone can afford to build 100,000 seat stadiums. Not everyone can fly coaches around on private jets. Not everyone can pay head coaches $10,000,000. Not everyone can build a new locker room or weight room every other year pretty much for the sole purpose of wowing recruits.
None of those things were “fair” five years ago either.

The problem with your reasoning is that the money spent was done while still maintaining the core integrity of the sport. If there was NIL the way we have it now in the past, CFB would have never built nice things for the players and CFB would have never been so popular.
The current players are also not being compensated off of THEIR NIL. There is no market for a 17 year old whose only skill is being able to run fast, tackle and throw footballs. If there was an alternate league where all the best HS players started their own league and CFB was played by frat boys, NOBODY would watch the alternate league and CFB stadiums would still sell out.

Absolute truth! Nobody but A&M fans ever wore a Johnny Football jersey. Nobody but our fans wore a Bryce jersey. I bought a "Gravedigger" t-shirt, with Isaiah Bond catching the ball on it, too early. It's now at the Goodwill, and they may have to ship it to Texas to sell it.

Then put a sign up sheet at the English Department, tell all the 5 stars to take a hike, and let’s see how that goes.
Winning and a game played at comparable to an NFL level contribute greatly to the money generated by programs. You can’t do that with just anyone.

Would you be pro cap and minimum pay? Sort of like the NFL. Trying to see if a common ground could be found. It really can’t continue as a free for all without killing the sport. I think with TV deals/etc, a most schools could swing a 10-15 million cap, minimum 100k?

I don’t know what the answer is. I do know that the programs with the best combination of money and HC are going to continue to win with or without NIL, regardless of the form of it. You will just have fans with hurt feelings because of player movement, but the fans ultimately will still watch and money will still be made.
IMO, one of the problems is escalating coaches salaries. Why can’t coaches be on a reasonable pay schedule similar to professors? If “the brand” is bringing in all the eyes and money, why does Dabo Swinney need a nine figure contract while some professor at Clemson with a PhD makes, I dunno, low six figures?

You can. Talent is relative. People dont care how fast or how big the players are...except how big or fast they are relative to other players on other teams. If people cared about that, they would watch the alternative leagues that pop up every now and then.
Your point is also incorrect because players were (mostly) amateur for 100 years

Its a fair point. Far more than coaching salaries, the greed of the schools ruined the amateur model. You cant in good faith demand amateurism while you squeeze every dollar out of your alumni/fans, create super-conferences that make no geographic sense and have huge TV contracts with 4 hour games due to the ridiculous commercial
times.
Im fine with revenue sharing but NIL and free agency will destroy the sport if left like this

This is part of the issue. The expectation of the shareholders who are demanding a great ROI. We saw what happen at a&m when Jimbo failed to produce on the field. UT I believe is following the same path.
We here the game is now controlled by the players but in reality it is those who are donated now have even more control then in the past. It is like having a company once in charge by a CEO now having a board that everyone must answer to and which also has a say in everything. Easy to see why Saban hung it up.
