There are so many and every team has tons if examples. Here’s one where during the 1988 Texas vs North Texas game, the referees ruled this as a touchdown catch by Texas

Texas would go on to win the game 27-24

Watch both replays the 2nd one is clear as day and ref is 6 feet away and even nods his head yes.

Gotta be the 5th down, right? Missing an in-bounds call or an obvious penalty is one thing, but giving a team an extra down is another level.

There was more than one in the Arkansas-Florida 2009 game. Had to protect ol' Tebow and his precious team. At least the refs were suspended.

I've been watching for 20 years now and we've been pretty fortunate. I guess one that comes to mind recently was the missed facemask on our final play against FSU a couple of years ago. Would've given us 1st and 10 at the FSU 25 with 39 seconds left. Not saying we would've won (I'm sure Napier would've derped it up) but still.

OU / Oregon, 2006. The Ducks' onsides kick was illegal in the first place (touched by the Ducks before it went 10 yards) and the refs called it Oregon ball, although an OU player came up with it. The entire PAC12 crew was suspended after that game.

But the absolute worst I ever saw, involving OU was @ Texas Tech, 2005. The most egregious call was a game-ending "TD" by Taurean Henderson (was down short by a yard) which even after review was upheld. But the play before that one was similar to the OP - dude was bobbling a pass in the EZ corner, the ref (6 feet away) signaled TD immediately, ball hit the ground, and the ref is still standing there with his arms up celebrating his bad call. There were like 6 other ridiculous calls in that game.

I mean this is pretty bad. Karma the next play though.

Phantom Fumble

Game didn't mean a whole lot, but the call was so horrible. Not only was his knee down, the ball didn't come out until his elbow hit the ground.
