Ranking SEC State flags

8. Missouri. Like the state of Missouri, it's too forgettable.
7. Florida. It's Alabama's flag with a seal in the middle. Florida needs a better flag.
6. Georgia. They've changed theirs too many damn times, and this is the best they can come up with?
5. Mississippi. Face it, they could have done a lot worse with this. I think the magnolia looks cool.
4. Tennessee. The tri-star flag was adopted in 1905 and is a very recognizable symbol for the Volunteer State today.
3. Alabama. Simple and to the point with a red St. Andrews cross on a white background.
2. Texas. 100% chance of triggered Texans because I didn't rank them #1. Chile's very similar flag was adopted first. Don't mistake me, though: it's a cool flag.
1. South Carolina. Their flag is not only original, but also cool as frick.
Dishonorable mentions
Louisiana. Has the potential to be cool, but this one ain't it. They should incorporate the fleur-de-lis at a minimum.
Kentucky. Could be confused with NY, PA, MI... et cetera. It looks nothing like a flag of a Southern state.
Oklahoma. If you have to remind people what your state flag is with the name of your state in large, bold font, you have a shitty arse flag.
Arkansas. Just burn this bullshite and start over.

I can’t argue with this. SC’s is one of the best in the country.

Solid rankings, IMO.

Georgia's is badass, and is certainly better than the Denny's placemat you've ranked above it.

Not a state flag, but the best flag in Texas history.

A few years back, a picture was purported to show A&M students accidentally displaying the Chilean flag at an A&M football game. But the truth was they were intentionally displaying the Chilean flag. The student was the son of a man who had been centrally involved in rescuing trapped Chilean miners the previous week, and it was an international story.
Anyway - just a side note. Solid ranking.

You don’t think the Louisiana one is cool? When a baby pelicans aren’t getting enough food the mother will tear off part of her flesh to feed her newborns
If that’s not cool I don’t know what is

Not trying to get political, but I'm honestly surprised that Georgia hasn't gotten pressured to change their flag by the NCAA since their flag is pretty much a copy of the stars and bars with the Georgia seal within the stars.

Fleur-de-lis is a nola thing and southern part of the state thing..... IMO.

Arkansas logo is shaped like a diamond as it is the only state that produces diamonds. You can can extract and keep these diamonds in Pike County Arkansas.
Arkansas used to be called the land of opportunity which is false and was called instead the natural state for tourism purposes.
I don't like Arkansas being called that as Arkansas isn't the only state that is unique in that case.
Arkansas should be called the diamond state.

Thank you, thank you.
I do love our flag. We do have a few other flags that are close. The Moultrie flag is my absolute favorite

The South Carolina state flag is so simple, but it's amazing. Definitely one of the best.

Obviously there is some history behind most of these. Arkansas could be improved upon a little but we are the only state with a diamond mine; makes it unique

Arkansas would be fine if we just took the word off
Flags shouldn't have words on them

The South Carolina flag has an actual historical basis as well. Cool story and they should be the undisputed #1.

Alabama should be 2 behind SC. Just a beautifully simple design. Looks good hanging both vertically or horizontally. They basically took a surrender flag and drew a big red X on it as a frick you to everyone.
