Why are some fan bases scared of the NCAA losing power?

Are they scared of the collectives of schools with larger checkbooks?

The NCAA will not exist in college football in a short few years. Why can some not accept this fact?

I personally could care less if the NCAA exists or not.

The part of the NCAA lawsuit that I don't like isn't about the NCAA losing power. I simply believe that enforcing a prohibition on paying recruits to come to a school would be good for college football. I think it's a good rule that should be enforced strongly. I'm disappointed that pay for play is going to be how it works in college football going forward.

If whatever organization runs college football could prevent any NIL contracts from having any conditions that effectively require a player to attend a particular college, I think it would fix 95% of the problems that exist with NIL.

I'm a bit disappointed that as soon as the NCAA tried to enforce that rule, the rule effectively got thrown away.

It's not the end of the world, but I think it's bad for the sport.

No one cares if NCAA bites dust. CFB fans should care about what replaces it. I personally hope that P5 schools separate and only play each other while the smaller programs take on more realistic budgets, not subsidized by being punching dummies for bigger programs and can actually compete for their own championship.

Share revenue through video games and TV where the Conferences employ the players and can legally enforce transfer and NIL rules. No more collectives. With exceptions(physical job, podcasts, commercials, social media, etc) players cannot receive payments from outside sources.

Because I love college football. I don’t care that much about the NFL.

It appears that college football is dying and what we will be left with is minor league NFL football.

The NCAA is flawed. But they are the glue that holds it all together. I am afraid the death of the NCAA would also mean the death of college football.

That is why I am scared. Maybe it is a good thing though. I won’t waste as much of my life on Saturday afternoons watching people chase a guy with a ball when that happens.

Nobody gives a shite about the NCAA, people don't want pay to play and they especially don't want unrestricted free agency.

Not to mention everything that is going on only benefits the top 1% of players, and screws over the rest.

Even if the schools leave the NCAA, they are just going to remake it.

It's mainly the fans of teams who had the NCAA in their pockets.

Of course they want the NCAA to keep its power.

Uga and bama seem more worried than others. Idk why. I do know Darnell Washington claiming Tennessee paid him gained traction but the reason he elected to go to uga instead didn't.

It's human nature to be scared of change & uncertainty, and it doesn't help that they are such controversial changes.

Ripping up conferences with long set geographic identities, ending rivalries that have been going on for decades, gentrification and loss of the core market as the more everyman type fans get priced out etc.

Sure, revenues are up, but for long? So many people feel that we are in a bubble and once it pops, CFB will be in an ugly spot.

BTW to the melty Tenn fan with high blood pressure, surely every SEC team pays players. Maybe Tenn just sucks at it??

I'm not scared of the NCAA losing power, I just don't like pro sports as much as college sports. The NIL is ruining it in my opinion. Not that is was working properly anyway with all the cheating. But I just have no interest in watching rich teenagers play sports. It was already hard to make them care, now it is impossible.

Why are you scared of somebody being in charge and keeping order? You sound like the liberals wanting to do away with law enforcement. Do you want college sports turn into the wild wild west or the streets of places like cities on the west coast where chaos rules?

I don't think fans are scared of losing the ncaa as much as what losing the ncaa represents. It's a catch all for the unknown bc no one knows where cfb ends up, but everyone knows the direction it's going. The elites will be fine which is less than 15 out of 130plus teams. Everyone else who knows. How many playoff spots? Who has access? What determines said access? Do middle class become the new lower class? Will thier fans still bring money to the table if they aren't competing? Are networks running things? Will relegation happen? Are we moving to nfl model? Hybrid model? Sec big separating? Separating alone? With the acc/big 12? Does the g5 have a place? It's very unstable times for the sport.

Do any teams have plans for a sperm bank and IVF program to develop the next generation of football players?

This would be a logical step to literally make the next generation of players.
