Whatever your take on NIL, don’t be surprised if the Tennessee AG rebuts the NCAA’s legal arguments at the upcoming injunction hearing by quoting what NCAA President Charlie Baker said about NIL less than three months ago:
“RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE NO RULES ON [NIL].”

but there are rules on recruiting, that's the question here. NIL doesn't matter, if he got a free flight to knoxville then showed up on campus, there's a problem.

I suppose the players from the hood just pay cash for all of their flights huh? Lol he already daid he did not fly there as a recruit. Duh. NCAA just trying to create drama and remain relevant.

You don't understand what's going on here, do you?

Actually if he was variably there on a matter unrelated to UT and the visit was not set up by the AD, coaching staff or university representatives then no, it’s not a problem.
Schools, Conferences, and Associations cannot limit a student-athlete’s ability to be compensated for their NIL
Student-athletes can receive professional representation if they are a registered agent in the state
Participation in NIL-related activities shall not impact a student-athlete’s athletic or scholarship eligibility
NIL agreements cannot be in conflict with existing team contracts
Schools, Conferences, and Associations cannot compensate a student-athlete for their NIL
Schools may restrict student-athletes from participating in vice industries

Gypsy, the NCAA salivates at this kind of stuff. It's the look. He was flown to Knoxville, then while he was there, decided to go to campus, he screwed himself. Like saying sic 'em to a dog, my apologies to UGA fans here.

He didn't just go to campus. He went to campus for a pre-planned unofficial visit with recruiting activities involved. You don't fly to campus on someone else's dime for an unofficial visit. And the same people who flew him there have self described their NIL collective as a "war chest" to recruit players to UT.

The recruiting activities were not geared for him, the coaches nor the school arranged for him to be on campus. It’s not different than him dropping by on a trip with a friend that lives in Knoxville.
Y’all are trying to make this into something it’s not.

not gonna lie.. It’s pretty hard to actually get in trouble with the NCAA these days, but TN may actually be in trouble
this will be interesting..

How many flights did TN pay for? 1 or 2? it appears he made 2 “official” visits

That's where your wrong. I'm an Ole Miss fan, I'm well versed in how the NCAA operates. He showed up on the campus. It doesn't matter who knew, what the reason was, or any of that, the NCAA doesn't care. They just know he was on the campus when he didn't provide his own way to get there.
I'm not saying it's right or moral or any of that. If anything, it exemplifies why everyone hates the NCAA so much. But it doesn't matter. They will use this bc they're screwy and its a way to show they still have power.

The Question may be is state law going to override NCAA. California state laws say High School players can setup their NIL. Not counting that Tennessee State Laws are. Which I don’t know what they are. But I know the courts have stopped the NCAA dead in their tracks. The last two times they were in court. So I guess we will have to wait and see.

You forgot to provide the link the first time you said this. Wonder why?

What makes you so certain about this? Seems more like wishful thinking.

Tennessee state law allows for highschool NILs. The issue becomes being 18 they can’t do individual contracts. Most highschool NIL is used for gear, camps, and travel.

Spyre Sports Attorney Tom Mars has said that Tennessee wasn’t involved with this trip.

That's it ! That ends the WITCH HUNT !

I’m sure UT had nothing to do with this. Just like they had nothing to do with cash stuffed into McDonalds sacks.
