An example of why:

quote:

In 2010, Mississippi State finished 9-4 and ranked No. 15 in the final Associated Press poll. The Bulldogs were the SEC West’s fifth-place team, having lost to four higher-ranked teams in No. 12 Arkansas, No. 10 Alabama, No. 8 LSU and the eventual national champions, No. 1 Auburn.

Some Notes:

Since 1992, 11 of the NCs have been from the West: 7 for Bama, 3 for LSU, 1 for Auburn.

Every school in the Division has been ranked in the top five in the past 13 years.

Since Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa, the West has won the SECCG 14-3. West winners include LSU, Auburn, and Bama. East only include UGA and UF.

since the SEC expanded to 14 teams in 2012, six of the top eight winningest schools in the conference are from the West.

MOST SEC WEST TITLES (1992-2023):

1. Alabama, 15

2. LSU, 7

3. Auburn, 6

4. Arkansas, 3

5. Mississippi State, 1

Let's add some more to this list of accomplishments.

Wait, you left off Ole Miss. I swear I’ve seen a banner in their stadium.

Heisman trophy winners: 4 from Bama, 2 from LSU, and 1 each from Auburn and TAMU. That’s 8 out of the last 17.

You’d need to go back to 1954 to get to 13. Source is Wikipedia.

Hey...watch it new blood.

As long as we have custody, we'll list them however we please.

Teams are listed above on their ability to reach Atlanta, not their stadium's rafters.

Sigh... That was a fun season

2012 would've been even more fun and unstable in the West, had Petrino not gone for that motorcycle ride
