Worrying about a 2025 is a waste of energy. Focus on staff and what we have now.

Funny you should mention that: I was just thinking about Corey Raymond as well. He's a fantastic DB coach and a great recruiter. Also, he's available:

I wonder why Florida canned him?

Well at the time Ffrench decommitted he said he hadn't heard from anyone on the current staff.

It's hard for a staff that largely hasn't been officially hired yet to be calling a recruit.

It's confusing. If Trob came to interview. He obviously had a interest in staying. If he doesn't take the job, he wasn't offered anymore than what UGA did so Co-DC less or same pay, and the comfort level with staff obviously with GA won out.

I don't see Trob turning down the DC role with the play calling duties, if CKD offered. If he says at Georgia I highly doubt CKD offered what he was expecting.

There’s a lot more that goes into the offer than what’s the title and what’s the salary

Yeah, and remember, TRob was the DC/DB coach under Muschamp at USCe, so maybe he still has a close relationship with him as well.

Not really if he wants to get to next level. He isn't gonna get a HC job being a yes man for Kirby. Schuman would get that nod. Maybe that's not his goal, and he want to take over when Sxhuman ultimately get a HC job.

Fair question. It appears it was part of a shake-up of the staff on the defense by Napier after Florida gave up points in bunches for consecutive games:

I hope we can reduce the Kirby Smart-related melts on this board. It's getting almost as bad as it was last off-season and that made me quit the board for a year. We get the point about Smart, now let's focus on Bama. Roll Tide!

Exactly, me neither. Now there's a great way to move on from T-Robinson (if indeed he is gone) in terms of coaching and recruiting. Just look at his recruiting list: LINK

In other news have y'all seen these guys they recruited...

I hope we can pull some of those signees from Washington because man they got some underrated talent at the receiver positions and in the secondary.

Jason Robinson 5'10, 165 (WR) extremely shifty and fast. We need that if we miss on Ryan Williams.

Peyton Waters 6'4, 185 (ATH) a tall receiver who is a long strider.

Justice Williams 6'4, 185 (WR) he could be flat out elite. He has the tools.

Joshua Lair 6'1, 175 (S) a straight up thumper

I'd love to have Corey Raymond on staff. I didn't know he was available. Great point.

Do you think Downs ever gets weirded out by the chub Kirby has for him? He’ll literally try anything to get him, including taking TRob.

Kirby is still pissed Saban stole Downs from under his nose. His HS is like 30 miles from Athens.

This didn't get the traction you were looking for the first time you posted it . Might get more feedback in the recruiting or Bama thread.

My apologies you posted it in the recruiting threas too You really feeling those recruits it seems.

Not that it matters much, but I would like to know of Nick was trying to hire a DC on his last days or was he just trying to hire a OLB coach and special teams coach.

If it was a DC then that speaks about TRob.

I think they said he was focused on replacing Wiggins. Steele's retirement is probably tied to Saban so I have no inside knowledge but it doesn't seem like he would have been looking for a DC.

Why would he risk coming here when he knows UGA is going to be good and he’ll be offered a big time HC job in the next few years?
Hell if he waits 3 years and DeBoer doesn’t hire some great recruiters quickly he may be able to come home as the HC.

DeBoer will coach circles around Kirby. Even if Kirby wins it will be because of a talent edge, nothing else. Don't know if Schumann is sharp enough to learn from DeBoer, but if so, he could learn a lot.

What are you doing on the Alabama board, seems like you would be much more happy and content on the Georgia board. Can't remember a positive post about Alabama, just "concerns". This is a high time for Alabama: Byrne just conducted one of the best searches in recent college history: private, efficient, quick, successful. To top it off, got a great coach, possibly the best in the college game. Bama fans should be overjoyed.

At that point Nick was short a OLB coach and a WR coach at that time.
