You don't even know the direction of this "search." You're concerned with speculation by people who have no clue what is happening or has happened.

All we know at this point is Lanning says he's staying in Oregon, although he's probably just responding to the rumors and was never offered.

Saban sticking around is a double edged sword. Makes me think we hire someone who is definitely comfortable working with. That being said, sounds like the new hire will work for Saban more so than the board or Byrne

Am I the only one that is troubled by this? How are we supposed to attract top coaching talent with Nick Saban still involved in some way? I don’t see any serious candidates wanting anything to do with that.

Saban is just trying to keep the team together for the new coach.

Norvell had basically his entire 3 deep roster QUIT once they found out they were out of the playoffs. A strong leader rallies the troops and attempts to prove a point by playing and beating the 2 time Champ UGA. Instead, Norvell pulls in to Miami with the 5th place team from the intramural league there at FSU and proceeds to get the ever loving dogshite stomped out of them.

Between him and DeBoer, I would rather have DeBoer, but both have won everywhere they have been.

Norvell is 69-32, while DeBoer is 104-12. Washington also beat Texas and was in the game midway through the fourth in the NCG, while Florida State got obliterated by the first elite team they played. Most of the disdain for Norvell comes from his team quitting on him though. That was a terrible look.

If it’s Locksley, Rees, or Drinkwitz I feel like we have to fire Byrne

I'm not sure about that. I think the firing squad would be the only solution.

If people are dumb enough to not even consider Norvell just for the Orange Bowl debacle, then we don’t deserve him.

Seriously. Y’all go touch some grass.

Watching FSU barely make it through their weak schedule this season unscathed has a lot to do with it as well.

I would more lean to that being an announcement he’s leaving for an NFL job, likely Seattle. But if he’s our coach, so be it. He’s just going to have to be surrounded by some good recruiters.

I love that movie and Jennifer Connelly so that's why I got it right away.

Thanks for the link TideWarrior. Meeting could also be just to tell them he's coming back but you never know.

Washington coach Kalen DeBoer, Florida State coach Mike Norvell and incumbent Tide offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. Two other names with some measure of traction in the search: former Broyles Award-winning Alabama assistant coach Mike Locksley and current Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz, per sources in upper levels of college athletics administration

I bet everyone listed there is represented by Sexton. Rees is the only ones I'm not sure about.
