I've got a feeling....and it may be unhealthy optimism....that this is going to be a huge "sabanesque" hire of a name that nobody thought was even in the running.

Same here.

This would scare me because this seems to indicate an internal hire. Or am I wrong on that

I see it the same way, but there's no one even remotely qualified currently on staff.

Just hire Glenn Schumann and be done with it.

It would be an extremely similar path to the one that Kirby took to his first HC job, just on a MUCH more condensed timeline:

Kirby:
Went to school at UGA
1999 Georgia (admin. asst.)
2000 Valdosta State (DB)
2001 Valdosta State (DC)
2002–2003 Florida State (GA)
2004 LSU (DB)
2005 Georgia (RB)
2006 Miami Dolphins (S)
2007 Alabama (AHC/DB)
2008–2015 Alabama (DC)
2016-present UGA (HC)

Schumann:
Went to school at Bama
2008–2011 Alabama (SA)
2011–2014 Alabama (GA)
2016–2018 Georgia (ILB)
2019–present Georgia (co-DC/ILB)

SO was I...there was one guy throughout all of it who kept saying it was Saban. Can't remember the guy's screen name.

Florida State insider:

3:15 p.m., Thursday, from Gene -- As Ira indicated, things aren't trending in a favorable way for Florida State right now. Still tough to say anything definitively other than Norvell is someone Alabama is looking at, but it's also fair to say he's also not their first choice. My Alabama source believes they are negotiating with multiple parties as the same time and that Norvell is a fallback choice. Either way, it looks like Norvell will be getting a significant raise one way or another. If there's a positive from this, I don't think we'll have to wait too long to find out about his future.

You’re really putting yourself out there with that. I hope you’re right though.

I just can't imagine it is Sark but imagine also having Horn fans hating our asses like LSU fans if he comes here and flourishes.

Is Shaggy Bevo still a thing? If so, the MS Paint artistry after that one would be a thing to behold. Especially if they make a shite hire.

DeBoar and Sark with some of the best odds now. I bet Sexton is wheeling and dealing right now.

Explain to me again why Sarc is a better choice than Lane? You can't say behavior or record.

Saban said him and his wife are healthy so I’m very happy to hear that.

So it’s been on his mind to step down and that being the case I would think Saban will have big influence on who he thinks is capable to be the next head coach

I’d be pretty happy with either result.
