I love Lane, but no thanks.
He wilts on the road against decent teams.

Well the retirement finally made me go remember my login to join the coaching candidates discussion...
I love the toughness Lanning has brought to Oregon, but I worry about the lack of experience. My top choice would be Sark after seeing how he has recruited and built Texas alongside creating an absolutely killer offense.

Thanks Coach Saban for the best times of my life regarding UA football.
Lanning, Kiffin, D.Ryans (one can dream), Sarkisian… wished next coach could be from that group

Good point, it makes no sense for Demeco to leave the NFL right now, but damn would I love to see him come home. That is a damn good football coach.

Maybe there is something to thus for Bo Davis to leave Texas...
We didn't see this coming when Steele retired earlier this week

If they get one of those top guys, I think they keep recruits, and keep most of the team. You also may see an actual qb competition

I heard it and about Steele I just didn’t believe frankly. But it makes a lot of sense now.

Can we all agree to stop the Kirby talk? The man heads a program as elite as Alabama and it’s his Alma Mater. Let’s be realistic.

A proven elite recruiter that has had success with more than one QB.

He was contacted but I doubt he does anything. Why would he?

I love DeMeco, I’ve been a huge fan of him and he is the reason I’ve liked the Texans since he was drafted but I don’t know how well he would do because all of his coaching experience is in the NFL.

That’s what college is now, basically.

We can tip our hats, offer thanks and move on.
What a ride.

Yep, it would be coaching search malpractice to not at least put a feeler out to these coaches agents.

Vrabel is coming.
Always a pretty big risk bringing in someone who has never coached college football, but if he were to be able to transition seamlessly, then I think that he'd be a great Bama coach.

It's not about being realistic. It's just due diligence. You have to make him tell you no.

NFL schedule is way less demanding, the work life balance in the NFL is much better than it is for college with the recruiting component.
