OU provides far less embarrassing material than the Aggies, that's the only reason for the page difference.

1. OU & Texas in indeed a rivalry, but a lot of older OU fans I know have grown out of the pure hatred phase.

Meaning I can't stand Texas, but I will help another person or be respectful to others, even if they're decked out in UT gear.

2. OU & Texas are joined at the hip for several reasons:

-The rivalry dates back over 100 years
-OU gets a lot of players from Texas high schools
-Texas' famous head coach Darrel K. Royal is a born and bred Okie & Sooner who played at OU
-Cotton Bowl is unique with history & travel distance
-Although Texas leads the series, its a competitive series
-Both schools generate lots of revenue
-Both schools respect each other enough to know there is mutual and monetary benefits to keeping status quo

The relationship is both hatred and respect.

Is there a secret meeting going on somewhere where jealous SEC troglodytes are gathering to create narratives in some retarded effort to protect their 'perceived' status against newcomers?

This shite is sad.

They dynamics of enmity between Texas and Oklahoma as both states and schools would appear to be too complex for SEC fans to understand. And only perceive it from the context of the two teams entering the SEC at the same time.

There are a million things that make the Oklahoma vs. Texas rivalry fierce, unique and personal for fans of both sides.

But suffice it to say that within the context of joining the SEC...Oklahoma and Texas might be a lot like the Cheyenne and Comanche tribes when all the European and White settlers showed up on the plains.

All of the sudden, the dynamics of their rivalry changed. As an OU fan what has changed for me is that in the Big XII, we root against Texas in every game. Fervently. In the SEC we won't necessarily root for them.... but we will kind of grin every time they take an SEC team down.

The only SEC rivalry game that equals OU-Texas level is the Iron Bowl.

Would have to understand our mutual hatred for the Big 12 to understand. I hate ou but I respect them. That's the difference between the Oklahoma rivalry and the Aggy rivalry. I have zero respect for Aggy.
I expect the Arkansas rivalry will heat up pretty quickly now that we're in the SEC.

You are entitled to your opinion.

I have been on this board several years. In my 3000+ posts, no one has ever claimed I was stupid.

While most posters on this board seem to care a great deal about what the rest of you think of them, especially the teasip posters, I don’t give a flying f*** about what you think.

If you ask a true Aggie on any given weekend who their favorite team is. They will tell you “A&M and whoever the donghorns are playing “

Which is exactly why you inserted yourself into a thread about Texas and Oklahoma

Oklahoma has a lopsided series lead over Oklahoma State. Texas has a lopsided series lead over A&M. Those rivalries do have great meaning within each state, but Texas-Oklahoma is a rivalry of excellence. Texas was the standard in the Southwest Conference and Oklahoma was the standard of the Big 8. It was a clash between states and conferences, played at The State Fair of Texas since 1929. It is unique and special for both fan bases. Texas wants to beat Oklahoma. Texas doesn’t want to lose to A&M.

You don’t see Texas and OU fans going at it in here because half of the responses would say “Big 12 Board”

Let me first say I’m excited to have OU/ Texas coming into SEC.

There is Noooooo hate between Bama / Auburn. It is a narrative conjured up by the media to sell advertising and interest in game.

My family is split between Auburn and Bama. I love them. But one day per year I scream, holler and swear against their team. Hate? Don’t think so.

Concerning other Rivalry games in SEC?

Egg Bowl- sorry OU/ Texas. Certainly no State Fair but I’d argue any fan of those schools would say this is a very intense game to them.

Cocktail Party - Jacksonville/ Gators and Dogs.

The biggest of all is the 3rd October game between Bama and Tennessee. Again, I don’t hate anyone but dislike? This game too me is the biggest Rivalry game in the SEC.

Welcome aboard and here’s to making new rivalries and traditions

Pretty sure there was not a State Fair in 1029. There was not even a USA until 1776.

Sometimes it seems the RRS has been going for nearly a thousand years, but it hasnt been quite that long. One has to wonder how brutal Medieval football would be, teams replaced after every contest? Lol
