if you are a school without a storied history, you have little chance of ever making it to a title run.

the financial and recruiting implications are enormous. not just to FSU, but for the whole ACC. the rich get richer, the poor stay down. It just looks to me like it's very bad for college football.

Hell, if you're talking about who is better, i'd pick Georgia over alabama. They will have their WR's and Brock Bowers back by the time the series would start.

It's a slap in the face to every conference but the SEC. Sure, the SEC is good and has been better than everyone else - but there is no question that FSU would have a good chance of beating any of the other teams with their 2d string QB.

I'm not angry at Alabama, but the system.

Just like everything else, college football is being ruined. By the money.

I would suggest that Fla State has a more storied history than Washington.

Didn't they have them against Bama?

The SEC has 5 teams in the top 13. How many does the ACC have?

Thought about this a lot lately. The Bowl process, the BCS, and the CFP are all reiterations of the same thing: all star selection at the local ball park. The dads with the pull get their kids on the team and little Johnny with the dad on the late shift job gets hosed. The system is in place to benefit those people and not the rest of us. Every now and then, we get a crumb thrown our way, but it's an illusion.

There's a reason why every other collegiate sport has a playoff and there's a reason why D1 football doesn't. You'll hear all kinds of reasons about money, logistics, injuries, schedules, blah, blah, blah. At the end of the day, it's about money and control. I can't wait for a D1 football playoff. It's long, long overdue......

The ramification of the decision is something that was already in place: we are going from a 4-team playoff to a 12-team playoff.

With four spots to give out, and there not being a whole lot of separation among the P5 conference champions, it was inevitable that whoever was left out was going to be able to make a case that they should have been included. Next year, its moot.

So, tell me about the long, storied histories of Cincinnati and TCU please. Since they made the playoffs the last two years.

The last two years the committee bent the knee to loud mouth idiots and put in two deserving teams, Cincinnati and TCU, and not the best teams. And how did those two teams do against the heavy weights?

Cincy lost 27-6 to Alabama.

TCU lost 65-7 to Georgia.

They let two of these non-storied programs in the last two years as an experiment. Those two teams got obliterated. They were snoozefests that viewers abandoned at half time.

Going to a 12 team format will lead to more bloodshed. Yes, there will be an occasional upset. But there will be a whole lot more 35+ point blowouts.

And people will bitch about it. Whatever they do, people will bitch about it.

If this year had the 12 team playoff system, Liberty would be in as the top Group of 5 school. Next year, Liberty or some other Group of 5 school will be in the playoff.

In 2021, Cincinnati was in the playoff. Last year, TCU was in the playoff. Neither of those teams are considered legendary programs.

The ramifications are that this is now down to two conferences who are looking to break away to form a pro league with the networks sooner rather than later. This is a major step towards ensuring that outcome.

But they are a 14 point underdog to UGA. They wouldn’t beat anyone in the top 10 with the backup

There’s no doubt LSU, Georgia, Auburn, etc. have had some great, memorable years sprinkled in but Alabama and Saban is the primary driver of the monster the SEC has become in these past approximate 20 years.

Whenever Saban calls it a day, the chances will likely be that Alabama returns to earth for awhile (I already feel sorry the the next Bama HC) and when that happens I suspect the national perceived “SEC dominance” will not continue on as it has to the level it has. Things will even out again.

We’ll continue to see some great teams, great seasons and even great eras, but not sure any of us will again see a program, (even post-Saban Alabama itself) have another sustained run for the length of time Saban and Alabama have.

No disrespect to the SEC as a whole because it’s a great conference with great football and great history.

But let’s be honest - what Bama and Saban have sustained for the length of time they have is not normal. Not in today’s age.

Just an “outsider’s” two-cents…

They're betting on no ramifications because of the move to 12.

There are none. This is the last year of the 4 team playoff.

New to the sport? This was always the case, it’s less this way now, and next year they’re letting everyone in.

This doesn’t make sense. Money and expanded playoff is solving all the problems you just ranted about. Your melt lacks consistency.

The ramifications of the decision are that teams shouldn't expect to play a slightly tougher schedule than a G5 team and still expect to get in.

It’s either un-American or the most American thing ever. Regardless, it is blue blood bias on full display. Unabashed favoritism. Disgraceful.

You typed some words and ignored that the whole system goes away next year.

Does this hurt so bad because FSU is more respected nationally than LSU?
