Are there any Ivy League schools in the south? Because if there was then they might pump some Government job money into football. Here it is and has been a way of life. I do get it. I’m just saying donations to academics are not misguided.

As I recall, there are no names on the "sides" of Davis Wade but only banners of former players.

oh, I apologize, I didn't realize State had taken the names off from above the gate entrances since the Kentucky game. Last I checked on November 4th, 2023, they were still there...

in any case, the op still hasn't a damned clue of what he's talking about.

Look at who is good in sports, state schools. Not Ivy League schools who have endowments that shite on these Texas oil retards.

Not true!

National Endowment ranking - Private & Public Universities

#2 University of Texas
42.688 billion
#8 Texas A&M University
19.243 billion
The only schools above them are private.

The state of Texas has the two largest endowments for State universities in the country.

Those are the endowments for the school systems (Texas system has 14 schools and 240,000 students. A&M system has 11 schools and 153,000 students) and UTexas and A&M only get a fraction of that endowment each year. And it’s mostly based on the price of oil. Most Ivy League endowments are completely divested from fossil fuels.

Feel that. We make nearly half again as much as we had in 2018 and I feel a lot more broke.

This is the first coaching hire for our AD. He's an Oklahoma guy so he's been around a good football program. But the Cigar Boys are going to be way too involved in this hire and we are going to screw it up.

Look at it this way Texas A&M has been far worst, and they throw tons of money to get top recruits and still not get to the top or be a very good team. Just get one of the up-and-coming HC that can recruit well. Just make sure no other programs knows about it or willing to gamble. I like the Mizzou hire. Same idea.

Why have our academics sucked so much arse? (Genuine question) We aren’t getting much bang for the buck there either. It’s been a steady decline from when I attended from what I understand, although there have been some infrastructure improvements, we are pretty low on most academic measurable compared to our sec brethren…maybe I’m misinformed

It starts with your State HS education. That is a must in order to get them into Ole Miss and MSU.

How does a group of guys worth only around a million have so much power? I know dozens of farmers that are state grads worth tens of millions. Including my wife’s family

It’s because anc is making it up. I don’t know how y’all keep falling for his nonsense on this board. He once posted a picture of the 1941 State team swimming at the beach before the Orange Bowl that season and claimed all of the players in the photo died in WWII, which was very clearly and quickly debunked.

Edited to point a lot of other like minded individuals in this thray call anc out on his baloney.

If the cigar boys don't donate that much then why would they have so much influence?

At Mississippi State, there is a group of guys (The Cigar Boys). These are guys that have net worths of a million or so and run small/mid-size companies that together wouldn't have $100 million in revenue.

There's the problem right there. Smoking cigars is a damned expensive habit. Cut back or elminate the cigars altogether and they'd have enough money to buy as many Mississippi State quality players as they can fit in the locker room...

The Sandersons are generous to the academic side but aren’t interested in getting involved in athletics past premium seating.

And that's the case for a lot of our wealthy donors. We just received a $100 million gift. All academic and student life.

The group that would give money to NIL or for a big name coach are small town car dealership owners, heavy equipment dealers, etc. Nice living, especially for Mississippi, but wouldn't sniff the board room at other SEC schools. We have a Sun Belt booster network, essentially.

Yeah that's why a team like Miss State will never really compete in the SEC. They probably do belong in the sun belt but they've got a sweet gravy train in the SEC with profit sharing. It's a trade off. They trade a chance to win championships for SEC money.

LSU’s top donor is a kid’s cancer hospital

That's messed up. Shouldn't a kid's cancer hospital be spending their money on treating cancer instead of football? So people are donating to this hospital thinking they are helping kids with cancer but they're really donating to LSU football program?

You created an account specifically to tell people that your name is in the side of Davis Wade.

You’re full of shite.
