Putting away the many night games at Soldier field, it would likely be the 1997 A&M Oklahoma game in Norman. It as 22 degrees at kick off and the wind had some bit that evening.

Boring game as well. A&M rolled 51-7 in the dying days of the John Blake era.

That game is the only game I can ever remember at Owen Field where there were no OU fans at all in the stadium at the end of the game.

Just a bunch of trench coat wearing Aggie Corp guys. Even the regular Aggie fans had bailed.

There have probably been some other games in Norman that have been that cold but that one was a night game.

I remember having the debate with my dad. Is it better to be cold or hot. The conclusion- hot. At least you can shed layers. When you’re cold- sometimes there is nothing you can do even with layers.

I used to be convinced that you could always find a way to warm yourself, so I preferred the cold.

Then I joined the Army and found out just how wrong I had always been. Give me warm weather.

I wasn’t there but that was the biggest physical beating I’ve seen Texas endure. Miami had something like 18 personal fouls / roughness calls and still won 46-3.

It was men against boys that day in Dallas. Miami wasn’t going to lose to anyone that day and felt snubbed by going to the cotton bowl.

Everyone got a beating but Butch Hadnot. He was a crazy beast of a dude and rumbled for 6 yards a carry and 100 yards.

Too bad he faded away quickly after that game.

Falcons game in December at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. Sat in the shade of the upperdeck when it was 30 degrees in the sun.

Coldest I can remember was the 2013 Tenn/Vandy game. Game was played the Saturday before Thanksgiving and kicked off at 7 eastern.

If I remember correctly it was in the low 40s at kickoff and high 30s by the end of the game, with a constant 5-10 mph wind.

I was at that game. Had broken the little toe on my left foot the Wednesday before, and it hurt like hell to walk to the stadium, but once I got there, my foot went numb and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Best part was after A&M's last touchdown, when they played the Belushi "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" speech from Animal House.

2007 Liberty Bowl. Freezing temps and gusty winds in a bowl almost seemingly designed to make the wind spin in the stadium.

When a WWII veteran says they were at Bastogne in December of 44 I can counter with being at the Liberty Bowl in 07 surrounded by the ghetto in Memphis, and get a tip of the cap.

For me, it was the Big 12 Championship Game in 2008 at Arrowhead. It was in the teens and the WC was below zero. OU was blowing out Missouri by halftime, and the 2 OU fans sitting next to my girlfriend and me were super nice about it. That was all fine, but after trying to warm up during timeouts in the restrooms for 3 quarters, we left.

Kentucky versus West Virginia in Birmingham in the 1980s was cold.

But I was the coldest at 1995 Auburn at Georgia. It was weird. Warm day, but temp plummeted quickly. Bookstore on campus sold out of gloves. We bought Olympic socks to put on our hands.

Auburn won 37-31, but Hines Ward started game at WR, moved to running back when somebody got injured, then finished the game at QB after Zeier went down. I don’t think he kicked or punted, but he may have covered kicks.

I was with my father who was a very dedicated Sooner alum. He and his fraternity buddies asked to leave in the third quarter. I walked with them to the car and then high-tailed it to the Library Bar at Campus Corner, where everyone I knew was already in there boozing it up.

That is the great thing about Youtube. All these moments are enshrined for history. Check out the 2:48 mark and the bare stands are for all to see.

Notre Dame at Penn State in 1987. Windchill was 20 degrees below zero.

State-Arkansas in 2000 had sleet and we were freezing and were soaked. I wished it was colder and snowed.

Senior Bowl Ladd Stadium Mobile Al the year Tebow was here. It had been typical Mobile winter weather all week nice and pleasant but not that day..

Cloudy and the north wind howled, no hiding from it and it taught everyone there the meaning of the word wind chill. It was miserable.

For me it was the inaugural SEC Championship game with Alabama vs Florida in Birmingham. The actual temp was in the low 40's but I was sitting in the south EZ with a 20 mph north wind in my face the whole game. It took me hours to thaw out although I warmed up temporarily when Langham pulled off the pick six.

Liberty Bowl 2010. Wind chill was 10 degrees.

It appears the design of that stadium creates gale force winds.
