The thing about coaches contracts........the University pays $500K. The rest comes from endorsement/booster money. It's not like the Universities are paying this huge buy-out from their budget or even the yearly salary of a well paid HC.

It’s like Auburn fans think every year either ends with a new contract or a firing. Let’s wait until Hugh has us in the playoff discussion before we even start mentioning raises

Yep, this is classic Battered Spouse Syndrome

If A&M's target wants to go to A&M, they will match/beat any potential raise to make it happen financially. I really don't see this like the Gus to Arky situation.

Freeze’s name hasn’t been mentioned in anything I’ve seen.

I’m sure Jimmy Sexton will never drop his name for any job ever.

Probably drops the name of every client he has for every job ever.

I don’t care if he wins 7 Natties in a row, let him or anyone else go if they want to go.

I guess if he won 7 Natties in a row, I could stomach a lifetime contract and renaming the university Freeze University at Auburn.

You think Sexton drops a name and they get a raise and that’s just how it works. Use some damn common sense man…

Sexton is not the boogie man. We can’t offer incentive based only contracts. We will almost certainly pay a big buyout in the future.

I agree no raise after one year.

You can tweak some Bonuses that should be more easily obtainable in the future.

Hell I would be in favor of a straight bonus Payment...

Pick up an extra 500K for a win over UGA or Bama. Win both extra 1 million.

Then we’d get to fire all the shitty coaches we want!

Freeze isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He has his entire family settled in Auburn….all his daughters and now TWO grand babies as Jordan gave birth to Freeze’s second granddaughter today.

I guess Sexton just never says a word to any client about any job.

No agent would ever network with ADs in case a job comes open.
No back room deals.
No exploratory one off meetings.

Glad to know it is just set up some meetings after a job is open.
Sounds like no secret talks ever occur between go betweens or anything of that nature.

What big win? Ark is dead last. This has to be Jimmy Sexton feeling out the fan base because literally nobody is saying this.

Hugh is in the uncomfortable stage at Auburn where we don't know if he makes it or not. He can keep the trajectory up and keep recruiting, and he will make it. But for now, he has not won anything, Jimmy Sexton has no leverage, and Freeze's bonus structure has to keep him entertained until he gets a contract extension or he gets fired.

Bingo.

Jimmy Sexton doesn’t just get to say “Hugh Freeze is a candidate for X job” and get him a raise.

Hugh is ours, for better or for worse. Pretty damn sure it’ll be for the better.
This is the most overall improvement I’ve seen over the course of a single season since 2013.

Sexton can kick cans down I-85 too

I dont know who Texas AM will hire but it had better be a quadruple grand slam. If someone is going to shell out that kind of cash to get rid of a coach that is recruiting at the highest in program history and paying him a frickton of money, it had better be worth it.

He will be picked apart if not

He is lucky he ever made it back to being a HC in the SEC. I think he's probably told Jimmy to chill for a couple seasons before he starts trying to find a new spot.

Right. The overall picture on the season is pretty mediocre. But when you examine closely, it's just finally nice to be able to say that the program is headed in the right direction for once, imo. It's been a while since you could say that Auburn football was on an upward trajectory. It's either been stagnant or in a nose dive for what seems like forever.

^This...and also because Freeze knows that Auburn will pay him more, a lot more, once he starts winning big.

Plus I don't see why he would leave AU for aTm. AU has always been a better program (that's not homerism, it is just a fact).

Ohio State, USC, Texas I could see. But not aTm. Sure they have tons of money but that won't get wins by itself. Jimbo bought a mega roster and still went 8-4.

Hugh was asked when he was at Liberty what kind of job he would leave them for. He said he prefers smaller college towns and is not interested in large urban areas. He said "there's about 3 schools on my list I would look at." He didn't say AU by name, but I know AU was on that list. (I would be curious who the other 2 are).
