I agree he is not leaving. Let’s see how we finish and get through next seasons schedule which will be a wee bit tougher going to GA and Bama. We do trade out LSU for Oklahoma. Lose Ole Miss and gain Mizzou.

It would be awesome if there was a clause that allowed coaches to be paid less if they suck....lol. I think freeze is doing all the right things. I know the schedule has lightened up a little but appears they are playing decent football. Glad we got away from the qb carousel. Auburn needs some good receivers and beef up the oline and I think they can compete with anyone. Freeze is recruiting lights out!

No but if given a few years and he drastically improves the program we’ll have to pony up

that mindset got us into the mess we’re in. Gus needed to be fired after 2014, but he beat uat in 17. And that raise set Auburn back 8 years.

So you want to fire a coach who took a 3-9 team to National Championship game his first year and then went 8-4 his second year

Come on man. Tell me that is a mistake you put in your post.

People have such revisionist history when it comes to Gus for some reason.

2013 was obviously a great year.
2014 we were really good but choked some games away due to having zero defense.

At worst in 2014, the only rational thought was fire the DC (we did) and fix the defense (which we actually eventually did do). No one thought the offense would go to shite. Jeremy Johnson was still the next coming of Brady at this point.

Then 2015/2016 happened and we started having our doubts. But then we looked good again in 2017.

We fired Gus at the right time. Maybe one year too late at most. We actually probably would’ve been in better shape now if we kept Gus until last year (but that’s also looking at things with hindsight).

Agreed, biggest mistake was giving such a huge raise over an Arky scare, maybe, but yeah I agree with your take.

The late game meltdowns were evident early, even in 2013. The end of 2014 really showed the cracks and how he was a fraud. So no, he most certainly was not fired at the right time.

1970's Auburn just called and they want their goals back.

If you’re going to fire Gus after 2014 then you are never going to be happy with a coach.

I don’t really know how you can call a guy a fraud when he had three separate teams with success at the highest level. He wasn’t as good as we thought he was but he certainly wasn’t a fraud.

I also find it funny this is coming from a guy that still believes in Ashford

Because just like Gus, Throne wasn’t very good against our rivals.

You're judgement of when to call it quits has not proven to be sound or reasonable, so forgive me if I just laugh at you right now.

If Mississippi State offers him a raise to move from Auburn to them, let him fricking go.
