For Auburn, both of our worst collapses that come to mind immediately were against MSU.

1999 Mississippi State
With 3 minutes left in the game, Auburn led 16-3 but somehow lost 18-16

2021 Mississippi State
Led 28-3 in the second quarter. Lost 43-34

UF up 33-10 in the middle of the 3rd quarter on the #3 Miami Hurricanes and then give up 28pts...

Choke at Doak. We were up 31-3 vs FSU in 94. Was a little kid but remember it well. We burned a FSU flag at half lol. Oof.

I remember that one well. I was a senior at UGA. We turned it off at the half...thought UF had it wrapped up. No smartphones and the internet was nascent at the time, so I didn't find out until watching SC later that night.

994 LSU/Auburn - Curley Hallman genius game....

LSU was up 23-9 with just over 12 minutes left.

Most folks forget that Auburn first TD came when Auburn recovered an LSU fumble in the end zone during the second quarter.

So 4 defensive TDs in one game, three in the 4th quarter. LSU fired Curley soon after.

Other crazy stats from that day:
Auburn ran six offensive plays in the fourth quarter for 2 yards.

Auburn had only one first down after the second quarter.

Auburn had five more points (21) in the second half than it had total yards (16).

1990 Tennessee vs Auburn

Tennessee is up 26-9...Auburn came back and tied the game 26-26 over UT inept defense. UT drove down to the Auburn 17 with 15 seconds left...then missed what was not much more than a chip shot field goal. Game ends in a tie 26-26.

Since Tennessee blew out Florida the following week, but lost 9-6 to Bama 2 weeks later...the Auburn tie decided the SEC title. Florida would finish the season 6-1 in conference...Tennessee would finish 5-1-1. So...the choke in both the second half and on the final field goal, cost UT a Conference Championship*.

ETA...technically, UT still won the conference that year because Florida was caught buying players and was ineligible for the title that year...but it still hurt.

the most pathetic choke job I have seen Auburn commit is that they hired this potato head as head coach.....this Boise Bonehead has set the program back immeasurably...

Not what happened at all and other teams have been on probation for worse and been allowed to win the title.

Galen Hall provided cash for a player to bring child-support payments up to date.

First-year coach Steve Spurrier said he strongly recommended "we do whatever we can to allow this team to play. For a former coach allegedly making a child-support payment four years ago -- that's the reason this team can't play for all the marbles any more? We got a problem with that."
