Growing up we had country - brown gravy and usually with rice
That said, I do think the terms are sometimes (and I suppose erroneously) used interchangeably, and growing up "country" was the term here (Deep South) and "chicken fried" was the generic term in places like Texas.

If Country fried steak is tender and done right… absolutely.
Safer bet is Chicken fried steak if you have to gamble.
Also. Food board or OT Lounge. Come on man…

Go watch the 1971 film "The Last Picture Show," where Ben Johnson's character, Sam the Lion, tells the waitress at the diner, "Chicken fry me a steak and try to use meat this time!"

Country Fried Steak.
White milk gravy is the only option on CFS. If you come at my plate with brown gravy, I will stab you with my fork.

Well, this is just wrong.
What you are thinking of is chicken fried chicken. That would be chicken. Or country fried chicken. Chicken fried STEAK, would be steak. Tough difference to find, I know.

Chicken fried.
I think chicken fried chicken is better than chicken fried steak. Both with white peppery gravy, of course.

Chicken fried steak and country fried steak are the same thing. Both are steak
There are some in this thread confusing the above two with chicken fried chicken….. which is chicken (completely different than chicken fried steak/country fried steak)
And the answer is always white gravy
This thread, I assume, has nothing to do with chicken fried chicken
Chicken fried steak is not chicken.

Country fried steak sounds like something they’d cook at a shitty diner in Nebraska with no seasoning and call it “country” because it sounds exotic to them
