So Sankey pretty much let the SEC be the appetizer lead-in to the Big Ten this season...

I mean WTF Sankey? CBS isn't even sending their A Team to Tuscaloosa this weekend, opting instead for Iowa Penn State.
Sankey got straight murdered on this latest TV deal. The worst thing he has done as commissioner.
ABC/ESPN are hot garbage at broadcasting games.

We lost out to Iowa and Pedo State? That's just embarrassing.

I'd rather get the A Team Production Quality

The relationship with CBS really went down in the later years, no idea the reason for that but not sure you can blame Sankey.

CBS was taking all sorts of shite at SEC.

By all accounts, CBS didn't want to pay up for the marquee game of the weekend. CBS placed a high value on the exposure of nationwide broadcast tv, and the SEC wanted the cash instead.

CBS got a discount for years from the SEC and didn’t want to match the ABC/ESPN bid. Not sure what Sankey is supposed to do?
Regarding the specific situation with commentators this weekend, it’s a lame duck year with CBS, what difference does it make?
I have reservations about the deal Sankey made (all with one broadcaster, deal signed before Texas and OU added, etc), but you guys who bitch endlessly need to put things in the proper perspective OR realize that ESPN has no better or worse political leanings than any network offering a deal.

We had 4 minutes of commercials before 1 play that was a 4th down punt just for them to go back to commercials for another 4 minutes.

SEC has become a joke in the span of a year.
1. Terrible broadcasts
2. Terrible on field product
We aren’t much above a G5 conference now. I expect viewership to decline and Disney will hemorrhage money and not be able to pay out the contract. This will lead to decline in revenue and the top teams will jump ship to ACC or B1G and the conference will implode like the PAC.
We are done. It’s a matter of time

The relationship with CBS soured because the SEC signed a long term deal with them long ago. The early years of the deal heavily favored SEC. As time went on the deal began to favor CBS. SEC wanted CBS to walk away from the good deal they were now in and restructure the contract . CBS wouldn’t.
Lesson here is don’t sign long term deals if you think the value of the product will keep increasing. Or structure the payments in such a way that they increase yearly at an acceptable level.
Just money people on both sides being counts.

The Florida Tennessee broadcast was top notch. That's what we're going to get next season.

As long as the checks keep coming from ESPN, I don’t care what the video quality is

The ESPN in 4K broadcast on YTTV was fantastic looking. Herbstreit and Fowler is the best overall pair in the sport. They will be calling most of the biggest SEC games next year.

Seriously frick CBS. I remember in the 70s having to listen to LSU —USC (who was number 1) on the radio because the cbs local game was something like Iowa State -Purdue.
