Sankey needs to be fired. Costing conference untold millions of dollars with the sucking TV deal and bring in a parasitic OU sux.

I can understand inviting longhorns. They have a large fanbase.

As long as the checks keep coming from ESPN, I don’t care what the video quality is

As A fan id rather have a better broadcast. None of that money is going in my pocket.

he should have broken the contract up and bid it out like the BIG10 did

This definitely was attempted, CBS presumably offered less. Fox is already in bed with the B1G, so not sure they would’ve jumped in. That leaves NBC who is doing a single game a week of B1G in addition to their Notre Dame deal.

None of those options have the distribution reach of ABC + ESPN. Fox could get close enough probably, but once again, we have no idea if they would be willing to go in on the SEC after putting their eggs in the B1G basket.

Easy to say that when your school and conference are in the catbird seat. Can’t imagine fans of schools that essentially got relegated down a level feel the same way.

no it wasnt attempted. could have broken GOTW, then the next best 2 then a 3rd and 4th tier just like Big10 did

this the same bullshite that he attempted with the playoffs. wanted to just extend the contract and let espn have it instead of doing like the nfl and big10 have done in breaking it out and letting multiple companies to big on it.

It absolutely was, the SEC and CBS negotiated. CBS’s offer was viewed as inferior for whatever reason by the SEC schools who approved the contact with ABC/ESPN.

You are assuming Fox and NBC wanted SEC inventory at a competitive price vs what they decided to do by sticking with Midwest schools that aligned with what those networks were already doing.

Sankey's more worried about emblems on a state flag than TV rights.

The ESPN in 4K broadcast on YTTV was fantastic looking. Herbstreit and Fowler is the best overall pair in the sport. They will be calling most of the biggest SEC games next year.

FYI, this site says LSU Arkie is the ESPN 4K game of the week. LINK /

also...ESPN does the only native 4k broadcast. Fox is 1080p upsampled. to me, that looked great but not good enough to pay extra (youtubeTV). I'm going to up my package for the LSU game though...just to try it out.

Sankey got straight murdered on this latest TV deal. The worst thing he has done as commissioner.

Sure did. The Big Ten's visibilty feels ten times better despite the shitty product. Pathetic.

You should check it out since it involves your team. Another benefit is no commercials.
