If the criteria is simply incorporating Louisiana in the lyrics, then I nominate Windfall by Son Volt.
quote:
Catching an all-night station somewhere in Louisiana
It sounds like 1963, but for now it sounds like heaven
May the wind take your troubles away
May the wind take your troubles away

Big Candy-Trey Clark
"She got whiskey on her breath,
A little bit of hair growing on her chest,
She's the damnedest thing this side of the Louisiana border,
She got a drift in one blue eye,
Like a cloud in a Cajun Sky,
She's crazy man, she weighs three fifteen and a quarter,
She got a 17 inch shoe,
She walked on at LSU,

LOL. I'm surprised considering Randy Newman wrote several songs about Louisiana guys like yourself. Take the song "Rednecks" for example.
As for your list.
I'll add "Baton Rouge" by the Nixons... which would probably be the one grunge type song about Louisiana.
And Witch Queen of New Orleans by Redbone. Which is about that famous voodoo queen (Marie Laveau that I'm sure has several other songs written about her.
